Medical headlamp optical arrangement
Abstract
A lamp having a front surface from which light is emitted and that includes a high efficiency light source assembly producing a beam having a 3 dB beamwidth of greater than 100°, and which includes a substrate, a high efficiency light source supported by the substrate; and a dome-lens that contains the high efficiency light source. Also, an optical assembly is positioned to receive light from the light emitting diode assembly and to produce a headlamp light beam emitted from the front surface of the lamp. Further, an annular light block defines an annulus and is placed about the lens, so that the lens protrudes through the annulus, thereby creating a sharp boundary for the output light beam.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A medical headlamp assembly, comprising:
(a) a lamp having:
(i) a light source having a beam width; and
(ii) an annular light block, thinner than 75 μm, positioned to block peripheral light produced by the light source, thereby leaving a central beam, having a beam width that is about equal to said beam width of said light source;
(b) a support assembly, including a head strap and a linkage, adapted to support said lamp on a user's head.
2 . The medical headlamp assembly of claim 1 , wherein said annular light block is thinner than 40 μm.
3 . The medical headlamp assembly of claim 1 , wherein said light source is an LED assembly.
4 . The medical headlamp assembly of claim 3 , wherein said LED assembly includes a dome lens encasing an LED.
5 . The medical headlamp assembly of claim 4 , wherein annular light block defines a central aperture and said dome lens protrudes through said central aperture.
6 . The medical headlamp assembly of claim 1 , wherein said annular light block is located within 1 cm of said light source.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
