Abstract

New lettuce varieties designated ‘Westminster’, ‘Somerset’, and ‘Henderson’ are described. ‘Westminster’, ‘Somerset’, and ‘Henderson’ are lettuce varieties exhibiting stability and uniformity.

1 . A lettuce seed designated as ‘Westminster’, representative sample of seed having been deposited under NCIMB Accession Number 43107.

         6 . A lettuce plant having all the physiological and morphological characteristics of the lettuce plant of  claim 2 . 
     
     
         7 . A plant part from the plant of  claim 6 . 
     
     
         8 . The plant part of  claim 7 , wherein said part is a head, a leaf, or a portion thereof. 
     
     
         9 . The plant part of  claim 8 , wherein said part is a head. 
     
     
         10 . An F 1  hybrid lettuce plant having ‘Westminster’ as a parent where ‘Westminster’ is grown from the seed of  claim 1 .

         16 . A method of making lettuce seeds, said method comprising crossing the plant of  claim 2  with another lettuce plant and harvesting seed therefrom. 
     
     
         17 . A method of making lettuce variety ‘Westminster’, said method comprising
 selecting seeds form the cross of one ‘Westminster’ plant with another ‘Westminster’ plant, a sample of ‘Westminster’ lettuce seed having deposited under NCIMB Accession Number 43107.
