Abstract

A composition comprising from about 0.001% to about 0.4% cyclosporin A, a surfactant, and an oil having a specific gravity from 0.8 to 0.95 is disclosed herein.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A method of treating keratoconjunctivis sicca, the method comprising administering a composition comprising from about 0.001% to about 0.4% cyclosporin A, a surfactant, and an oil having a specific gravity from 0.8 to 0.95 to a patient in need thereof, wherein said composition is an ophthalmically acceptable emulsion. 
     
     
         2 . The method of  claim 1  wherein said oil has a specific gravity of from 0.90 to 0.95. 
     
     
         3 . The method of  claim 1  comprising from about 0.005% to about 0.05% cyclosporin A. 
     
     
         4 . The method of  claim 3  comprising about 0.05% cyclosporin A. 
     
     
         5 . The method of  claim 4  comprising almond oil. 
     
     
         6 . The method of  claim 4  comprising corn oil. 
     
     
         7 . The method of  claim 4  comprising arachis oil. 
     
     
         8 . The method of  claim 4  comprising cottonseed oil. 
     
     
         9 . The method of  claim 4  comprising safflower oil.
