Abstract
The present disclosure is directed to a paper towel product that will capably separate from the paper towel roll as a full sheet, a half sheet or a quarter sheet. A method of making a paper towel with machine direction perforations is also disclosed.

1 . A rolled paper towel product of at least one paper web, the rolled towel product comprising:
a basis weight of at least about 35 g/sq. meter; a SAT absorbent capacity of at least about 300 grams/sq. meter; at least one perforation line in the CD direction wherein the perforation strength is between about 450 grams/3 inches and about 950 grams/3 inches; at least one perforation line in the MD direction wherein the perpendicular perforation strength is between about 770 grams/3 inches and about 1700 grams/3 inches; and wherein the perforation strength in the CD direction is greater than the perforation strength in the MD direction.
2 . The paper towel product of claim 1 , wherein the paper towel product has a basis weight of at least about 50 g/sq. meter.
3 . The paper towel product of claim 1 , wherein the paper towel product has a ratio of perpendicular perf tensile/perf tensile of at least about 1.15.
4 . The paper towel product of claim 1 , wherein the paper towel product has a perforation tensile ratio of at least about 32%.
5 . The paper towel product of claim 1 , wherein the paper towel product has a perpendicular perforation tensile ratio of at least about 32%.
6 . The paper towel product of claim 1 , wherein the product comprises at least two paper webs produced by through drying.
7 . The paper towel product of claim 1 , wherein the SAT absorbent capacity is at least bout 550 grams/sq. meter.
8 . The paper towel product of claim 1 , wherein the MD perforation line comprises perforations having an aspect ratio of less than 3.
9 . The paper towel product of claim 1 , wherein the MD perforation line bisects the paper towel into two approximately equal pieces.
10 . The paper towel product of claim 1 , wherein the product is embossed.
11 . The paper towel product of claim 7 , wherein the MD perforation line and the CD perforation line intersect to form 2 squares.
12 . A partitionable rolled paper towel product comprising:
a continuous roll of at least one paper web having a basis weight of at least 30 g/sq. meter, wherein the continuous roll of at least one paper web has a series of repeating perforations, wherein the series of perforations includes a full sheet perforation and a half sheet perforation, both in the cross machine direction, and a quarter sheet perforation in the machine direction, and wherein the full sheet perforation and the half sheet perforation have substantially the same perforation strength and the quarter sheet perforation has a perforation strength greater than the perforation strength of the full and half sheet perforations.
13 . The rolled paper product of claim 12 , wherein the ratio of the perforation tensile of the quarter sheet perforation to the half sheet perforation tensile is at least about 1.15.
14 . The rolled towel product of claim 12 , wherein the perforation strength of the full and half sheets is between about 450 grams/3 inches and about 950 grams/3 inches.
15 . The rolled towel product of claim 12 , wherein the rolled paper towel is a two-ply product.
16 . The rolled towel product of claim 12 , wherein the rolled paper towel is a three-ply product.
17 . The rolled towel product of claim 12 , wherein the product is embossed.
18 . A rolled paper product comprising:
a series of sheets of a single-use absorbent paper, wherein the first sheet is defined by a first set of perforations that extend in the CD direction and a second set of perforations that extend in the CD direction; and wherein the first sheet includes at least one set of perpendicular perforations in the MD direction allowing the first sheet to be partitioned into smaller sheets; wherein the perforation bond length of the at least on set of perpendicular perforations in the MD direction is longer than the bond length of the first and second sets of perforations that extend in the CD direction; and wherein the perforation strength of the MD perforations is at least about 770 grams/3 inches.
19 . The rolled paper product of claim 18 , wherein the ratio of the perpendicular perforation tensile strength/perforation tensile strength is at least about 1.15.
