Abstract

Medicant mixing/administration systems are provided that can include: a medicant vial; a syringe assembly comprising a barrel and a piston; a protective material supporting the syringe assembly and medicant vial; and a member within the system, the member separating the piston of the syringe assembly from the medicant vial. Systems are provided that can include: a syringe assembly comprising a barrel and a piston; having a forward end and an opposing back end; a protective material supporting the syringe assembly; and a needle housing coupled to the protective material. Medicant mixing/administration methods are also provided that can include, within a package, sufficiently clearing a restraining member from between a medicant vial and syringe plunger to pierce the medicant vial with a piercing structure coupled to the syringe plunger, the piercing providing medicant from the vial to the syringe assembly. Additional methods can include, upon opening a package containing a syringe assembly, extending a needle housing from the package.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
The invention claimed is:

1 . An medicant administration syringe device comprising:
a syringe assembly comprising a syringe barrel and a syringe piston, wherein the piston defines a housing configured to receive a container; and at least one lateral opening defined within the housing and configured to allow digital manipulation of the container.

2 . The device of claim 1 further comprising another lateral opening defined within the housing.

3 . The device of claim 2 wherein the one lateral opening is aligned opposing the other lateral opening.

4 . The device of claim 2 wherein the one lateral opening is aligned axially along the housing from the other lateral opening.

5 . The device of claim 1 wherein the piston extends between two ends and the housing is defined between the two ends.

6 . The device of claim 5 wherein the lateral opening extends along the length of the housing between the two ends.

7 . The device of claim 1 further comprising walls defining the housing.

8 . The device of claim 7 further comprising ribbing extending from the interior of the walls of the housing.

9 . The device of claim 1 wherein the container is sealed.

10 . The device of claim 1 wherein the container encloses an antiseptic.
