Methods and compositions for treating diseases and conditions

Abstract

Provided herein include methods and compositions for treating diseases or conditions. In some embodiments provided are methods for treating one or more diseases or conditions selected from the group consisting of hypertension, heart failure, dyspnea, and sleep apnea. In certain embodiments provided are methods that include administering a compound of formula (I) as disclosed herein. In some embodiments provided are methods that include administering a P2X3 and/or a P2X2/3 receptor antagonist.

         44 . A method of treating dyspnea in a subject in need thereof, comprising administering to the subject an effective amount of a compound of formula (I): 
       
         
           
           
               
               
           
         
         or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, wherein: 
         R 1  is hydrogen or C 1 -C 6  alkyl optionally substituted with one to three substituents independently selected from halogen, nitro, cyano and hydroxy; and 
         R 2  is selected from C 1 -C 6  alkyl, C 2 -C 6  alkenyl, C 2 -C 6  alkynyl, amino, aminosulfonyl, halo, amido, C 1 -C 6  haloalkyl, C 1 -C 6  alkoxy, C 1 -C 6  hydroxy, C 1 -C 6  haloalkoxy, nitro, C 1 -C 6  hydroxyalkyl, C 1 -C 6  alkoxyalkyl, C 1 -C 6  hydroxyalkoxy, C 2 -C 6  alkynylalkoxy; C 1 -C 6  alkylsulfonyl, C 6 -C 10  arylsulfonyl, C 1 -C 6  carboxyalkyl, cyano and C 1 -C 6  alkylcarbonyl. 
       
     
     
         45 . The method of  claim 44 , comprising administering to the subject an effective amount of a compound of formula (I), wherein R 1  is C 1 -C 6  alkyl optionally substituted with one to three halogens, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof. 
     
     
         46 . The method of  claim 44 , comprising administering to the subject an effective amount of a compound of formula (I), wherein R 1  is C 1 -C 6  alkyl, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof. 
     
     
         47 . The method of  claim 44 , comprising administering to the subject an effective amount of a compound of formula (I), wherein R 2  is selected from aminosulfonyl and C 1 -C 6  alkylsulfonyl, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof. 
     
     
         48 . The method of  claim 44 , comprising administering to the subject an effective amount of a compound of formula (I), wherein:
 R 1  is C 1 -C 6  alkyl; and   R 2  is selected from aminosulfonyl and C 1 -C 6  alkylsulfonyl;   or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.
