Abstract
A data recording apparatus including: a data reading device configured to read data from a first recording medium and configured to store data and first management data for managing the data by file; a data recording device configured to record data on a second recording medium; a management data producing device configured to produce second management data for managing data recorded on the second recording medium based on the first management data of the first recording medium on which the data recorded on the second recording medium has been recorded; a data determining device configured to determine data unrecorded on the second recording medium by comparing the first management data read by the data reading device from the first recording medium with the second management data recorded on the second recording medium; a control device configured to read the data determined by the data determining device from the first recording medium and cause the recording device to record the read data onto the second recording medium; and a display device configured to display the recording status of data, managed by the first management data read by the reading device from the first recording medium, on the second recording medium, wherein the recording status includes one of recording of data complete, recording of data in progress, and recording of data yet to begin.

2 . A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing instructions which, when executed by a processor comprised within an information processing apparatus, cause the processor to perform a method of transferring data, the method comprising:
storing first management data in a database on a first storage medium, the first management data identifying first source data stored on the first storage medium; receiving an indication that second source data is to be stored on the first storage medium, and responsive to the received indication:
reading the first management data from the first storage medium, and
identifying, based on the first management data and second management data corresponding to the second source data, a subset of the second source data not stored on the first storage medium; and
responsive to identifying the subset of the second source data, communicating with the second storage medium over a network interface to cause a transfer of the subset of second source data to the first storage medium across a network; and while the identified subset of the second source data is being transferred, communicating with a user interface processor to cause the user interface to display an indication of a transfer status of the subset of the second source data, wherein the subset of the second source data transferred to the first storage medium is compressed.
3 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium according to claim 2 , wherein the indication of the transfer status is a rectangular percentage bar.
4 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium according to claim 2 , wherein the indication of the transfer status is a circle.
5 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium according to claim 2 , wherein the first management data is indicative of a title of an audio track comprised within the second source data.
6 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium according to claim 2 , wherein the method further comprises:
downloading content data from an external server and storing the downloaded content on the first storage medium, and wherein the first management data also corresponds to the downloaded content data stored on the second storage medium.
7 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium according to claim 2 , wherein
the steps of reading and identifying are performed when the first storage medium is loaded in, or connected to, the information processing apparatus.
8 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium according to claim 2 , wherein the indication of the transfer status indicates the percentage of the subset of the second source data stored in the first storage medium.
9 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium according to claim 2 , wherein the step of causing transfer of the subset of second source data comprises:
causing the transfer of a plurality of files of second source data to the first storage medium when the plurality of the files are determined not to be stored on the first storage medium in the identifying step.
10 . A method of an information processing apparatus for transferring data, the method comprising:
storing first management data in a database on a first storage medium, the first management data identifying first source data stored on the first storage medium; receiving an indication that second source data is to be stored on the first storage medium, and responsive to the received indication:
reading the first management data from the first storage medium, and
identifying, based on the first management data and second management data corresponding to the second source data, a subset of the second source data not stored on the first storage medium; and
responsive to identifying the subset of the second source data, communicating with the second storage medium over a network interface to cause a transfer of the subset of second source data to the first storage medium across a network; and while the identified subset of the second source data is being transferred, communicating with a user interface processor to cause the user interface to display an indication of a transfer status of the subset of the second source data, wherein the subset of the second source data transferred to the first storage medium is compressed.
11 . The method according to claim 10 , wherein the indication of the transfer status is a rectangular percentage bar.
12 . The method according to claim 10 , wherein the indication of the transfer status is a circle.
13 . The method according to claim 10 , wherein the first management data is indicative of at least one of an album ID, album title, and track title.
14 . The method according to claim 10 , wherein the method further comprises:
downloading files of content data from an external server and strong the downloaded content on the first storage medium, and wherein the first management data also identifies the files of downloaded content data recorded on the second storage medium as the transferred data.
15 . The method according to claim 10 , wherein the steps of reading and identifying are performed when the first storage medium is loaded in, or connected to, the information processing apparatus.
16 . The method according to claim 10 , wherein the indication of the transfer status indicates the percentage of the subset of the second source data stored in the first storage medium
17 . The method according to claim 10 , wherein the step of causing a transfer comprises:
causing the transfer of a plurality of files of second source data to the first storage medium when the plurality of the files are determined not to be stored on the first storage medium in the identifying step.
18 . An information processing apparatus, comprising:
circuitry configured to
store first management data in a database on a first storage medium, the first management data identifying first source data stored on the first storage medium;
receive an indication that second source data is to be stored on the first storage medium, and responsive to the received indication:
read the first management data from the first storage medium, and
identify, based on the first management data and second management data corresponding to the second source data, a subset of the second source data not stored on the first storage medium; and
responsive to identifying the subset of the second source data, communicate with the second storage medium over a network interface to cause a transfer of the subset of second source data to the first storage medium across a network; and
while the identified subset of the second source data is being transferred, communicate with a user interface processor to cause the user interface to display an indication of a transfer status of the subset of the second source data,
wherein the subset of the second source data transferred to the first storage medium is compressed.
19 . The information processing apparatus according to claim 18 , wherein the indication of the transfer status is a rectangular percentage bar.
20 . The information processing apparatus according to claim 18 , wherein the indication of the transfer status is a circle.
21 . The information processing apparatus according to claim 18 , wherein the first management data is indicative of a title of an audio track comprised within the second source data.
22 . The information processing apparatus according to claim 18 , wherein the circuitry is configured to
download content data from an external server and storing the downloaded content on the first storage medium, and wherein the first management data also corresponds to the downloaded content data stored on the second storage medium.
23 . The information processing apparatus according to claim 18 , wherein
the circuitry is configured to perform the steps of reading and identifying when the first storage medium is loaded in, or connected to, the information processing apparatus.
24 . The information processing apparatus according to claim 18 , wherein the wherein the indication of the transfer status indicates the percentage of the subset of the second source data stored in the first storage medium.
25 . The information processing apparatus according to claim 18 , wherein the circuitry is configured to cause the transfer of the subset of second source data by:
