Systems, methods, and devices for scanning broadcasts
Abstract
The various embodiments disclosed herein provide methods, systems, and devices for capturing broadcast streams, analyzing the broadcast streams to obtain information about the media content transmitted in the broadcast streams, obtaining additional information about the media content if available, and assigning a unique event identifier specific to the instance of broadcast of the broadcast stream and/or media segment transmitted in the broadcast stream. In other embodiments, the unique event identifier is broadcasted to broadcast receiving devices. With the unique event identifier, broadcast receiving devices can access the obtained information associated with the media content.

2 . A system for using acquired third party encoded identifying data for presentation in association with broadcast segments using multiple receivers, the system comprising:
a first broadcast receiver device that receives a first broadcast stream comprising at least a first media segment and accompanying first data stream, the accompanying first data stream including at least the acquired third party encoded identifying data that enables unique identification of a specific instance of the first media segment, acquired third party encoded identifying data that enables content identification of the first media segment and acquired third party encoded identifying data that enables an identification of a source of the first broadcast stream; a broadcast receiver device link to a second broadcast receiver device that acquires location data using at least one of the following: Global Positioning System, triangulation system, Internet service provider location system, Wi-Fi based location system, and further receives a second broadcast stream comprising at least a second media segment and accompanying second data stream, the accompanying second data stream including at least data that enables content identification of the second media segment and data that enables an identification of a source of the second broadcast stream; at least one computer processor operably connected to an electronic memory that analyzes the first data stream to determine an identification of the source of the first broadcast stream and an identification of the first broadcast segment and further analyzes the second data stream to determine an identification of the source of the second broadcast stream and an identification of the second broadcast segment; a selectable input that enables a selectable option activation to change outputting from the first broadcast receiver device to the second broadcast receiver device; and an output that presents the first media segment, the identification of the source of the first broadcast stream and the identification of the first broadcast segment, subsequent to the selectable option activation, the output further presents: the second media segment, the identification of the source of the second broadcast stream and the identification of the second broadcast segment.
3 . The system of claim 2 , wherein the selectable input further enables a second selectable option that initiates a process to transmit the acquired third party encoded identifying data that enables unique identification of the specific instance of the first media segment to a database.
4 . The system of claim 2 , wherein the output further presents the location data acquired by the second broadcast receiver device.
5 . The system of claim 2 , wherein the first broadcast receiver device receives at least one of the following: digital radio, Frequency Modulated radio, Amplitude Modulated radio, Internet, satellite radio, television, cable television, wireless, wired.
6 . The system of claim 2 , wherein the second broadcast receiver device receives at least one of the following: digital radio, Frequency Modulated radio, Amplitude Modulated radio, Internet, satellite radio, television, cable television, wireless, wired.
7 . The system of claim 2 , wherein the identification of the first media segment includes at least one of the following: a name, a title, a publisher, an owner, an album, a picture, a number.
8 . The system of claim 2 , wherein the identification of the second media segment includes at least one of the following: a name, a title, a publisher, an owner, an album, a picture, a number.
9 . The system of claim 2 , wherein the identification of the source of the first broadcast stream includes at least of the following: a frequency identification, a call sign, a name, a channel identification, a catch phrase, a location, a corporation, a broadcaster.
10 . The system of claim 2 , wherein the identification of the source of the second broadcast stream includes at least one of the following: a frequency identification, a call sign, a name, a channel identification, a catch phrase, a location, a corporation, a broadcaster.
11 . The system of claim 2 , wherein the selectable input is at least one of the following: a voice command, a button, a knob, a switch, a touch screen.
12 . A method for associating data that enables a unique identification of a specific instance of acquisition of encoded third party data with a reception of a specific instance of a media segment in an electronic transmission, the method comprising:
receiving the specific instance of the media segment in the electronic transmission; determining data that identifies a source of the electronic transmission; acquiring encoded third party data associated with the reception of the specific instance of the media segment in the electronic transmission; generating data that enables the unique identification of the specific instance of acquisition of the encoded third party data; determining an identification of the media segment using at least the encoded third party data; and storing in a database the identification of the media segment determined at least in part using the encoded third party data in association with the data that enables unique identification of the specific instance of acquisition of the encoded third party data and the data that identifies the source of the electronic transmission.
13 . The method of claim 12 , wherein the encoded third party data comprises at least a content identifier.
14 . The method of claim 12 , wherein the database includes third party database entries stored in association with the extracted associated third party encoded data.
15 . The method of claim 12 , further comprising obtaining and analyzing relevant meta-data associated with the electronic transmission of the media segment.
16 . The method of claim 12 , further comprising obtaining and analyzing the electronic transmission of the media segment.
17 . The method of claim 12 , wherein the unique identification of the specific instance of the acquisition of the third party encoded data associated with the electronic transmission of the media segment is database indexed to data that enables the unique identification of a specific instance of transmission of the media segment.
18 . The method of claim 12 , wherein the data that identifies the source of the electronic transmission comprises at least one of the following: a frequency identification, a call sign, a name, a channel identification, a catch phrase, a location, a corporation.
19 . The method of claim 12 , wherein the electronic transmission is at least one of the following: digital radio, frequency modulated radio, amplitude modulated radio, internet, satellite radio, television, cable television, wireless, wired.Cited by (0)
