Skin lightening compositions

Abstract

Disclosed are compositions and methods for their use that include a combination of Leontopodium alpinum extract, Halidrys siliquosa extract, vegetable amino acids, niacinamide, hexylresorcinol, Pinus pinaster extract, Betula alba extract, Albizia julibrissin bark extract, hydrolyzed Candida saitoana extract, Lentinus edodes mycelium extract, and/or Opuntia tuna fruit extract.

A method for whitening skin, lightening skin, or evening out skin tone, the method comprising topically applying to skin in need thereof a composition comprising an effective amount of vegetable amino acids from navy bean, wherein the composition whitens, lightens, or evens out the tone the skin in need thereof. 
     
     
         48 . The method of  claim 47 , wherein the composition is applied to hyperpigmented skin. 
     
     
         49 . The method of  claim 47 , wherein the composition is applied to a freckle or dark spot on skin. 
     
     
         50 . The method of  claim 47 , wherein the composition is applied to skin having an uneven skin tone from excess melanin pigmentation. 
     
     
         51 . The method of  claim 47 , wherein the composition inhibits melanogenesis in the skin. 
     
     
         52 . The method of  claim 47 , wherein the composition comprises 0.001 to 5.0 wt. % of the vegetable amino acids from navy bean. 
     
     
         53 . The method of  claim 47 , wherein the composition further includes niacinamide. 
     
     
         54 . The method of  claim 47 , wherein the composition further includes an effective amount of hexylresorcinol to inhibit glycation in the skin.

         56 . The method of  claim 47 , wherein the composition is an emulsion. 
     
     
         57 . The method of  claim 56 , wherein the emulsion is an oil-in-water emulsion. 
     
     
         58 . The method of  claim 47 , wherein the composition is an aqueous solution. 
     
     
         59 . The method of  claim 47 , wherein the composition is a cream or lotion. 
     
     
         60 . The method of  claim 47 , wherein the composition further comprises a chelating agent, a moisturizing agent, a preservative, a thickening agent, and an emulsifier.
