Validating and supplementing emergency call information
Abstract
The present invention extends to methods, systems, and computer program products for validating and supplementing emergency call information. A Public Safety Answering Point receives an emergency (e.g., 911) call from a mobile device. Parts of the emergency call are processed to identify an emergency call location. Characteristics of the emergency call are combined with characteristics of other signals to identify and emergency call event, including the emergency call location. The emergency call event is sent to the Public Safety Answering Point. Prior to receiving phase II data and possibly even prior to receiving phase I data, the Public Safety Answering Point receives the event. The Public Safety Answering Point tailors dispatch of emergency resources responding to the emergency call based on characteristics of the event, including the originating location.
Claims

1 . A method comprising:
deriving, from features of a dimensionally reduced version of an emergency call signal, a probable origination geo cell within which the emergency call signal originated; accessing one or more additional dimensionally reduced signals originating from within a second geo cell; identifying, from features of the one or more additional dimensionally reduced signals, a validated origination geo cell for the emergency call signal; detecting an event from the features of the dimensionally reduced version of the emergency call signal based on the validated origination geo cell; and sending the validated origination geo cell, the event, and the event truthfulness probability to a resource dispatching entity.
2 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
determining a severity based on characteristics of the normalized emergency call signal and the one or more additional dimensionally reduced signals; and including the severity in the event.
3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the probable origination geo cell indicates a probable origination location of the emergency call, and wherein the probable origination geo cell is at least partially derived from features of a transcript of voice communication between a mobile telephone caller and a Public Safety Answering Point call taker.
4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the second geo cell comprises a geo cell precision area with a boundary originating from within a specified distance of the probable origination geo cell.
5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the dimensionally reduced version of the emergency call signal is a Time, Location, Context (TLC) formatted version of the emergency call signal; and
wherein accessing one or more additional dimensionally reduced signals comprises accessing one or more additional signals in the Time, Location, Context (TLC) format.
6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the probable origination geo cell comprises a first geo cell precision level and the second geo cell comprises a second geo cell precision level.
7 . The method of claim 6 , wherein the second geo cell precision level is lower than the first geo cell precision level.
8 . The method of claim 6 , wherein the second geo cell precision level is higher than the first geo cell precision level.
9 . The method of claim 1 , wherein detecting the event comprises detecting an event categorized as one or more of: a fire, a shooting, an active shooter, a traffic accident, a natural disaster, or a protest.
10 . The method of claim 1 , wherein sending the event to the resource dispatching entity comprises sending the event to a Public Safety Answering Point prior to a carrier network sending phase II data to a Public Safety Answering Point.
11 . A system comprising:
a processor; system memory coupled to the processor and storing instructions configured to cause the processor to: derive, from features of a dimensionally reduced version of an emergency call signal, a probable origination geo cell within which the emergency call signal originated; access one or more additional dimensionally reduced signals from within a second geo cell; identify, from features of the one or more additional dimensionally reduced signals, a validated origination geo cell for the emergency call signal; detect an event from the features of the dimensionally reduced version of the emergency call signal based on the validated geo cell; and send the validated geo cell, the event, and the event truthfulness probability to a resource allocation entity.
12 . The system of claim 11 , further comprising instructions configured to:
determine a severity based on characteristics of the dimensionally reduced version of the emergency call signal and the one or more additional dimensionally reduced signals; and include the severity in the event.
13 . The system of claim 11 , wherein the probable origination geo cell is at least partially derived from features of a transcript of voice communication between a mobile telephone caller and a Public Safety Answering Point call taker.
14 . The system of claim 11 , wherein the second geo cell comprises a geo cell precision area with a radius originating from within a specified distance of the probable origination geo cell.
15 . The system of claim 11 , wherein the dimensionally reduced version of the emergency call signal is a Time, Location, Context (TLC) formatted version of the emergency call signal; and
wherein accessing one or more additional dimensionally reduced signals comprises accessing one or more additional signals in the Time, Location, Context (TLC) format.
16 . The system of claim 11 , wherein. the probable origination geo cell comprises a first geo cell precision level and the second geo cell comprises a second geo cell precision level.
17 . The system of claim 12 , wherein the second geo cell precision level is lower than the first geo cell precision level.
18 . The system of claim 12 , wherein the second geo cell precision level is higher than the first geo cell precision level.
19 . The system of claim 11 , wherein instructions configured to detect an event comprise instructions configured to detect an event from features of the one or more additional normalized signals.
20 . The system of claim 11 , wherein instructions configured to send the event to the resource dispatching entity comprises instructions to send the event to a Public Safety Answering Point prior to a carrier network sending phase II data to a Public Safety Answering Point.Cited by (0)
