Abstract
An inhalable composition for use as a medicament in the treatment of a subject wherein said composition comprises: one or more cannabinoids or a pharmaceutically acceptable derivative or salt thereof; a propellant; a monohydric or polyhydric alcohol; and a glycol and/or glycol ether, characterised in that the ratio of monohydric or polyhydric alcohol to glycol or glycol ether by weight is from 6:1 to 1:1, wherein the composition is administered in the form of an aerosol having a fine particle fraction of 60% or more.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 .- 44 . (canceled)
45 . A method of delivering a cannabinoid composition to treat a subject, the method comprising:
preparing a pre-mixture comprising a monohydric or polyhydric alcohol and a glycol or glycol ether, wherein the ratio of monohydric or polyhydric alcohol to glycol or glycol ether by weight is from 6:1 to 1:1; adding one or more cannabinoids or pharmaceutically acceptable derivatives or salts thereof, to the pre-mixture to obtain a cannabinoid-containing mixture; adding a propellant to the cannabinoid-containing mixture to form the cannabinoid composition; and administering the cannabinoid composition to the subject in the form of an aerosol having a fine particle fraction of 60% or more.
46 . The method according to claim 45 , wherein the fine particle fraction is 70% or more.
47 . The method according to claim 45 , wherein the fine particle fraction is 75% or more.
48 . The method according to claim 45 , wherein the one or more cannabinoids is selected from tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), dronabinol, cannabidiol (CBD), cannabinol (CBN), tetrahydrocannabivarin (THCV), cannabigerol (CBG), cannabidivarin (CBDV) and cannabichromene (CBC).
49 . The method according to claim 45 , wherein the alcohol is a monohydric alcohol.
50 . The method according to claim 49 , wherein the ratio of monohydric alcohol to glycol or glycol ether by weight is from 5:1 to 1.2:1.
51 . The method according to claim 45 wherein the composition comprises from 0.1 to 2% w/w propylene glycol, based on the total weight of the composition.
52 . The method according to claim 45 , further comprising:
adding a TAS2R bitter taste receptor agonist to the pre-mixture before adding the one or more cannabinoids.
53 . The method according to claim 52 , wherein the human TAS2R bitter taste receptor agonist is saccharin, and wherein the saccharin is present in the composition in an amount by weight from 0.001% w/w to 0.1% w/w based on the total weight of the composition.
54 . The method according to claim 45 , further comprising:
adding a flavoring component to the pre-mixture before adding the one or more cannabinoids.
55 . The method according to claim 54 , wherein the flavor component is menthol, and wherein the menthol is present in the composition in an amount up to 0.1% w/w, based on the total weight of the composition.
56 . The method according to claim 54 , wherein the flavor component is selected from at least one of peppermint oil, aniseed, chocolate, coco, and vanillin.
57 . A method of delivering a cannabinoid composition for treatment of neuropathic pain in a subject, the method comprising:
preparing a pre-mixture comprising a monohydric or polyhydric alcohol and a glycol or glycol ether, wherein the ratio of monohydric or polyhydric alcohol to glycol or glycol ether by weight is from 6:1 to 1:1; adding CBD and THC to the pre-mixture at a ratio of 23:1 to obtain a cannabinoid-containing mixture; adding a propellant to the cannabinoid-containing mixture to form the cannabinoid composition; and administering the cannabinoid composition to the subject in the form of an aerosol having a fine particle fraction of 60% or more, wherein the CBD and THC are approximately 1.25% w/w of the cannabinoid composition.
58 . A method of delivering a cannabinoid composition for treatment of nausea, motion sickness, or other similar conditions in a subject, the method comprising:
preparing a pre-mixture comprising a monohydric or polyhydric alcohol and a glycol or glycol ether, wherein the ratio of monohydric or polyhydric alcohol to glycol or glycol ether by weight is from 6:1 to 1:1; adding CBD and THC to the pre-mixture at a ratio of 5:1 to obtain a cannabinoid-containing mixture; adding a propellant to the cannabinoid-containing mixture to form the cannabinoid composition; and administering the cannabinoid composition to the subject in the form of an aerosol having a fine particle fraction of 60% or more, wherein the CBD and THC are approximately 12% w/w of the cannabinoid composition.
59 . A method of delivering a cannabinoid composition for relief of symptoms of arthritis in a subject, the method comprising:
preparing a pre-mixture comprising a monohydric or polyhydric alcohol and a glycol or glycol ether, wherein the ratio of monohydric or polyhydric alcohol to glycol or glycol ether by weight is from 6:1 to 1:1; adding CBD and THC to the pre-mixture at a ratio of 20:1 to obtain a cannabinoid-containing mixture; adding a propellant to the cannabinoid-containing mixture to form the cannabinoid composition; and administering the cannabinoid composition to the subject in the form of an aerosol having a fine particle fraction of 60% or more, wherein the CBD and THC are approximately 0.65% w/w of the cannabinoid composition.
60 . A method of delivering a cannabinoid composition for relief of symptoms of Alzheimer's disease in a subject, the method comprising:
preparing a pre-mixture comprising a monohydric or polyhydric alcohol and a glycol or glycol ether, wherein the ratio of monohydric or polyhydric alcohol to glycol or glycol ether by weight is from 6:1 to 1:1; adding CBD and THC to the pre-mixture at a ratio of 9:1 to obtain a cannabinoid-containing mixture; adding a propellant to the cannabinoid-containing mixture to form the cannabinoid composition; and administering the cannabinoid composition to the subject in the form of an aerosol having a fine particle fraction of 60% or more, wherein the CBD and THC are approximately 1.25% w/w of the cannabinoid composition.Cited by (0)
