Abstract

This invention pertains generally to prostacyclin formulations and methods for their use in promoting vasodilation, inhibiting platelet aggregation and thrombus formation, stimulating thrombolysis, inhibiting cell proliferation (including vascular remodeling), providing cytoprotection, preventing atherogenesis and inducing angiogenesis.

         1 . A pharmaceutical composition comprising a) treprostinil or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or ester thereof and b) polysorbate 80. 
     
     
         2 . The pharmaceutical composition of  claim 1  in the form of a powder. 
     
     
         3 . The pharmaceutical composition of  claim 2  further comprising a buffer. 
     
     
         4 . The pharmaceutical composition of  claim 1  further comprising a buffer. 
     
     
         5 . The pharmaceutical composition of  claim 1  comprising a) a pharmaceutically acceptable salt of treprostinil and b) polysorbate 80. 
     
     
         6 . The pharmaceutical composition of  claim 5 , wherein the pharmaceutically acceptable salt is treprostinil sodium. 
     
     
         7 . The pharmaceutical composition of  claim 6  in the form of a powder. 
     
     
         8 . The pharmaceutical composition of  claim 5  in the form of a powder. 
     
     
         9 . The pharmaceutical composition of  claim 5  further comprising a buffer. 
     
     
         10 . The pharmaceutical composition of  claim 6  further comprising a buffer. 
     
     
         11 . The pharmaceutical composition of  claim 7  further comprising a buffer.
