Abstract

Disclosed is an equalization vent usable for venting and drying a roof. In accordance with example embodiments, the equalization vent may include a base, a cup arranged in the base, a flexible membrane arranged in the cup, an airflow guide arranged on the base and the cup, and a cover on the air flow guide, wherein the flexible membrane allows air to flow through the vent when the pressure outside of the vent is less than the pressure inside the base and prevents air from flowing through the vent when the pressure outside of the vent is greater than pressure inside the base.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What we claim is:

         1 . A method of modifying a roof comprising:
taking a cover off an equalization vent leaving a base of the equalization vent in place and attached to the roof; inspecting the roof by viewing inside the base of the equalization vent to determine whether the roof should be modified; and modifying the roof in the event the roof requires modification while the base remains attached to the roof.

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein modifying the roof includes coring the roof.

3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein modifying the roof includes passing material through the base and onto the roof.

4 . The method of claim 3 , wherein the material is a foam material.

5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein inspecting the roof includes inspecting a coring of the roof.

6 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
removing an air flow guide from the vent.

7 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
removing a flexible membrane from the vent.

8 . The method of claim 1 , wherein removing the cover includes removing fasteners from the base.

9 . The method of claim 8 , wherein the fasteners are screws.

10 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
inserting a tool through the base to modify the roof, wherein modifying the base includes coring the roof.

         11 . A modular vent comprised of:
a base; a moisture sensor in the base; and a cover on the base, wherein the cover is connected to the base.

12 . The modular vent of claim 11 , wherein the moisture sensor is configured to send data wirelessly.

13 . The modular vent of claim 11 , wherein the moisture sensor is configured to send data over a wire.

14 . The modular vent of claim 11 , further comprising:
a flexible membrane configured to prevent air from flowing through the base when the pressure outside of the vent is higher than pressure in the base and allow air to flow through the base when the pressure outside the vent is lower than pressure in the base.

15 . The modular vent of claim 14 , further comprising:
a cup in the base, wherein the flexible membrane is in the cup.

         16 . A system comprising:
the modular vent of claim 11 ; and a data collector configured to receive data from the moisture sensor.

17 . The system of claim 16 , wherein the data collector receives data via wireless transmission.

18 . The system of claim 16 , wherein the modular vent includes a flexible membrane configured to prevent air from flowing through the base when the pressure outside of the vent is higher than pressure in the base and allow air to flow through the base when the pressure outside the vent is lower than pressure in the base.

19 . The system of claim 18 , further comprising:
a cup in the base, wherein the flexible membrane is in the cup.

20 . The system of claim 18 , wherein the cup is supported by a shoulder of the base.
