Absorbent article with a waistband and leg cuffs having gathers

Abstract

A disposable absorbent article comprising a first waist region, a second waist region, a crotch region disposed between the first waist region and second waist region; a first waist edge and a second waist edge; and a first longitudinal edge and a second longitudinal edge; the disposable absorbent article comprising a waistband and a leg gasketing system, wherein the waistband has a first gather count and the leg gasketing system has a second gather count such that the ratio of the first gather count to the second gather count is from about 0.75 to about 1.25.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . An absorbent article comprising:
 a first waist region, a second waist region, and a crotch region disposed between the first and second waist regions;   a first waist edge, a second waist edge, a first longitudinal side edge; and a second longitudinal edge;   a chassis comprising a topsheet, a backsheet, and an absorbent core positioned between the topsheet and the backsheet;   a leg gasketing, system extending from the first waist region to the second waist region;   a first waistband connected with the chassis and positioned in the first waist region to define a first percent chassis contraction;   a second waistband connected with the chassis and positioned in the second waist region to define a second percent chassis contraction; and   wherein the first percent chassis contraction is greater than the second percent chassis contraction.   
     
     
         2 . The absorbent article of  claim 1 , wherein the first waistband comprises an elastomeric film. 
     
     
         3 . The absorbent article of  claim 2 , wherein the first waistband further comprises a nonwoven. 
     
     
         4 . The absorbent article of  claim 1 , wherein the second waistband comprises an elastomeric film. 
     
     
         5 . The absorbent article of  claim 1 , wherein the first waistband is positioned flush with the first waist edge. 
     
     
         6 . The absorbent article of  claim 1 , wherein the second waistband is positioned flush with the second waist edge. 
     
     
         7 . The absorbent article of  claim 1 , wherein the first waistband is positioned within 20 mm of the first waist edge. 
     
     
         8 . The absorbent article of  claim 1 , wherein the chassis comprises a body-facing surface and a garment-facing surface, and wherein the first waistband and the second waist band are connected with the body facing surface of the chassis. 
     
     
         9 . The absorbent article of  claim 1 , wherein the first waistband is connected to the chassis with mechanical bonds. 
     
     
         10 . The absorbent article of  claim 9 , wherein the first waistband is connected to the chassis with adhesive. 
     
     
         11 . An absorbent article comprising:
 a first waist region, a second waist region, and a crotch region disposed between the first and second waist regions;   a first waist edge, a second waist edge, a first longitudinal side edge; and a second longitudinal edge;   a chassis comprising a topsheet, a backsheet, and an absorbent core positioned between the topsheet and the backsheet;   a leg gasketing system extending from the first waist region to the second waist region;   a first waistband connected with the chassis and positioned in the first waist region to define a percent consolidation; and   a second waistband connected with the chassis and positioned in the second waist region.   
     
     
         12 . The absorbent article of  claim 11 , wherein the first waistband comprises an elastomeric film. 
     
     
         13 . The absorbent article of  claim 12 , wherein the first waistband further comprises a nonwoven. 
     
     
         14 . The absorbent article of  claim 11 , Therein the second waistband comprises an elastomeric film. 
     
     
         15 . The absorbent article of  claim 11 , wherein the first waistband is positioned flush with the first waist edge. 
     
     
         16 . The absorbent article of  claim 11 , wherein the second waistband is positioned flush with the second waist edge. 
     
     
         17 . The absorbent article of  claim 11 , wherein the first waistband is positioned within 20 mm of the first waist edge. 
     
     
         18 . The absorbent article of  claim 11 , wherein the first waistband is connected to the chassis with mechanical bonds. 
     
     
         19 . The absorbent article of  claim 18 , wherein the first waistband is connected to the chassis with adhesive. 
     
     
         20 . An absorbent article comprising:
 a first waist region, a second waist region, and a crotch region disposed between the first and second waist regions;   a first waist edge, a second waist edge, a first longitudinal side edge; and a second longitudinal edge;   a chassis comprising a topsheet, a backsheet, and an absorbent core positioned between the topsheet and the backsheet;   a leg gasketing system extending from the first waist region to the second waist region;   a first waistband connected with the chassis and positioned in the first waist region, the first waistband comprising greater than about 10 gathers per 30 mm; and   a second waistband connected with the chassis and positioned in the second waist region, the second waistband comprising greater than about 10 gathers per 30 mm.
