Abstract
A computer-implemented system and method for displaying additional information corresponding to an item represented by a visual indicator in response to a mouseover event is disclosed. Various embodiments receive a mouseover event corresponding to a visual indicator displayed on a display screen and generate additional information corresponding to an item represented by the visual indicator in response to the mouseover event, the additional information being obtained from various databases and used to generate additional information corresponding to the item.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A method comprising:
displaying, on a display screen of a computing device, a visual indicator representative of an item; receiving a user identifier of a user and an item identifier of the item in response to detecting a cursor event associated with the visual indicator; in response to receiving the user identifier of the user and an item identifier of the item:
determining a user profile of the user stored in a database based on the user identifier of the user;
determining a user-specific advertisement based on the user profile of the user and the item identifier of the item; and
causing display of the user-specific advertisement in an information block proximate the visual indicator.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the cursor event is detected in response to the user positioning a cursor within a region associated with the visual indicator for a pre-determined length of time.
3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the cursor event comprises a mouseover event.
4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the user-specific advertisement is determined based on a geographical proximity derived from the user profile of the user.
5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the user-specific advertisement is selected based on a relevancy of the additional information to the user.
6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the determining a user-specific advertisement based on the user profile of the user and the item identifier of the item further comprises obtaining item information related to the item from an item database, and wherein the user-specific advertisement is determined based on the item information and the user profile of the user.
7 . A method comprising:
displaying, on a display screen of a computing device, a first visual indicator; detecting a first cursor event corresponding to the visual indicator in response to a cursor being positioned within a region associated with the first visual indicator for a pre-determined length of time; in response to the first cursor event, displaying a first additional information block that includes at least a second visual indicator; detecting a second cursor event corresponding to the second visual indicator included in the first additional information block; and in response to the second cursor event, displaying a second additional information block.
8 . The method of claim 7 , wherein the first visual indicator corresponds to an item.
9 . The method of claim 8 , wherein the first visual indicator corresponding to the item is displayed within an item list.
10 . The method of claim 8 , wherein the first additional information block further includes information related to the item.
11 . The method of claim 10 , wherein the second additional information block includes additional information related to the item.
12 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the additional information related to the item displayed with the second additional information block is more detailed than the information related to the item displayed with the first additional information block.
13 . The method of claim 7 , wherein the first cursor event is detected in response to the cursor being positioned within the region associated with the first visual indicator for the pre-determined length of time without a selection of the first visual indicator.
14 . The method of claim 7 , wherein the first cursor event comprises a first mouseover event and wherein the second cursor event comprises a second mouseover event.
15 . A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing program code which, responsive to execution by one or more processors of a computing device, perform operations comprising:
displaying, on a display screen of a computing device, a visual indicator representative of an item; receiving a user identifier of a user and an item identifier of the item in response to detecting a cursor event associated with the visual indicator; in response to receiving the user identifier of the user and an item identifier of the item: determining a user profile of the user stored in a database based on the user identifier of the user; determining additional information based on the user profile of the user and the item identifier of the item; and causing display of the additional information in an information block proximate the visual indicator.
16 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 15 , wherein the additional information comprises a user-specific advertisement.
17 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 15 , wherein the cursor event is detected in response to the user positioning a cursor within a region associated with the visual indicator for a pre-determined length of time.
18 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 15 , wherein the additional information is filtered based on the user profile of the user.
19 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 15 , wherein the additional information is filtered based on a geographical proximity information derived from the user profile of the user.
20 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 15 , wherein the additional information is selected based on a relevancy of the additional information to the user.Cited by (0)
