Information processing apparatus and control method therefor

Abstract

An information processing apparatus, which transmits, to an image processing apparatus for generating a virtual viewpoint image, at least some of a plurality of images based on image capturing from a plurality of different directions, obtains an image based on image capturing by an image capturing apparatus, obtains camera viewpoint information about at least one of a position and orientation of the image capturing apparatus, obtains virtual viewpoint information about at least one of a position and orientation of the virtual viewpoint, reduces an information amount of the obtained image based on the camera viewpoint information and the virtual viewpoint information, and transmits the image with the reduced information amount to the image processing apparatus.

         14 . An information processing apparatus comprising:
 one or more memories storing instructions; and   one or more processors executing the instructions to:
 obtain an image based on image capturing by an image capturing apparatus; 
 determine whether to reduce an information amount of the obtained image; 
 perform, in a first case where it is determined to reduce the information amount of the obtained image, specific processing on the obtained image, and not to perform, in a second case where it is determined not to reduce the information amount of the obtained image, the specific processing on the obtained image, the specific processing being processing that reduces information about an object included in the obtained image; and 
 transmit to another apparatus connected with the information processing apparatus via a daisy chain, in the first case, the obtained image on which the specific processing has been performed and to transmit, in the second case, the obtained image on which the specific processing is not performed. 
   
     
     
         15 . The apparatus according to  claim 14 , wherein the specific processing includes processing of reducing information about shape of an object included in the obtained image. 
     
     
         16 . The apparatus according to  claim 14 , wherein the specific processing includes processing of reducing information about a color of an object included in the obtained image. 
     
     
         17 . The apparatus according to  claim 14 , wherein the specific processing includes processing of reducing information about a specific object included in the obtained image. 
     
     
         18 . The apparatus according to  claim 17 , wherein the specific processing includes processing of reducing information about shape of the specific object included in the obtained image. 
     
     
         19 . The apparatus according to  claim 17 , wherein the specific object is an object among a plurality of objects included in the obtained image. 
     
     
         20 . The apparatus according to  claim 19 , wherein the specific object is shielded by another object when viewed from a specific viewpoint. 
     
     
         21 . The apparatus according to  claim 14 , wherein the specific processing includes processing of reducing a frame rate of the obtained image. 
     
     
         22 . The apparatus according to  claim 14 , wherein the obtained image is an image representing a region of the object in an image captured by an image capturing apparatus. 
     
     
         23 . A control method for an information processing, the method comprising:
 obtaining an image based on image capturing by an image capturing apparatus;   determining whether to reduce an information amount of the obtained image;   performing, in a first case where it is determined to reduce the information amount of the obtained image, specific processing on the obtained image, and not performing, in a second case where it is determined not to reduce the information amount of the obtained image, the specific processing on the obtained image, the specific processing being processing that reduces information about an object included in the obtained image; and   transmitting to another apparatus connected with the information processing apparatus via a daisy chain, in the first case, the obtained image on which the specific processing has been performed and transmitting, in the second case, the obtained image on which the specific processing is not performed.   
     
     
         24 . A non-transitory computer readable storage medium storing a program for causing a computer to execute control method for an information processing, the method comprising:
 obtaining an image based on image capturing by an image capturing apparatus;   determining whether to reduce an information amount of the obtained image;   performing, in a first case where it is determined to reduce the information amount of the obtained image, specific processing on the obtained image, and not performing, in a second case where it is determined not to reduce the information amount of the obtained image, the specific processing on the obtained image, the specific processing being processing that reduces information about an object included in the obtained image; and   transmitting to another apparatus connected with the information processing apparatus via a daisy chain, in the first case, the obtained image on which the specific processing has been performed and transmitting, in the second case, the obtained image on which the specific processing is not performed.
