Abstract

Cannabinoids, in particular CBD and CBDA and their acid derivatives are provided for use as an active pharmaceutical substance in the treatment of nausea, vomiting, emesis, motion sickness. In particular extracts of cannabis plants are presented which are rich in these substances and suitable for pharmaceutical use.

         16 . A method of treating nausea, vomiting, or emesis in a mammal comprising administering a pharmaceutically acceptable amount of or an extract containing a pharmaceutically acceptable amount of CBD and/or CBDA and/or the propyl variants CBDV and/or CBDVA. 
     
     
         17 . The method of  claim 16 , wherein the CBDA and/or CBDVA and/or CBD and/or CBDV is/are present as a cannabis extract. 
     
     
         18 . The method of  claim 17 , wherein the cannabis extract comprises greater than 2% (w/w) of CBDA and/or CBDVA and/or CBD and/or CBDV. 
     
     
         19 . The method of  claim 17 , wherein the cannabis extract comprises greater than 5% (w/w) of CBDA and/or CBDVA and/or CBD and/or CBDV. 
     
     
         20 . The method of  claim 17 , wherein the cannabis extract comprises greater than 7% (w/w) of CBDA and/or CBDVA and/or CBD and/or CBDV. 
     
     
         21 . The method of  claim 17 , wherein the cannabis extract contains less than 10% (w/w) of other cannabinoids. 
     
     
         22 . The method of  claim 21 , wherein the cannabis extract contains less than 5% (w/w) of other cannabinoids. 
     
     
         23 . The method of  claim 22 , wherein the cannabis extract contains less than 2% (w/w) of other cannabinoids. 
     
     
         24 . The method of  claim 21 , wherein the other cannabinoids include THC or THCV. 
     
     
         25 . The method of  claim 16 , wherein the CBDA and/or CBDVA and/or CBD and/or CBDV is substantially pure isolated CBDA and/or CBDVA and/or CBD and/or CBDV. 
     
     
         26 . The method of  claim 16 , wherein the CBDA and/or CBDVA and/or CBD and/or CBDV is synthetic. 
     
     
         27 . The method of  claim 16 , wherein the CBDA and/or CBDVA and/or CBD and/or CBDV is CBDA.
