Drive Shaft Coupling

Abstract

Formula delivery devices include a handle and a consumable assembly. The handle has a handle shell, and the consumable assembly is configured to be removably joined with the handle by insertion into the handle shell. The consumable assembly has a formulation container disposed in an elongate housing and is configured to contain a volume of a formulation. The formulation container is provided with a sealing member configured to enable fluid communication with the formulation container.

The embodiments of the invention in which an exclusive property or privilege is claimed are defined as follows: 
     
         1 . A formula delivery device, comprising:
 a handle having a handle shell; and   a consumable assembly configured to be removably joined with the handle by insertion into the handle shell, the consumable assembly having a formulation container disposed in an elongate housing and configured to contain a volume of a formulation, the formulation container being provided with a sealing member configured to enable fluid communication with the formulation container.   
     
     
         2 . The formula delivery device of  claim 1 , wherein the formulation container further comprises a valve configured to regulate a flow of the formulation out of the formulation container. 
     
     
         3 . The formula delivery device of  claim 1 , wherein the sealing member comprises an orifice. 
     
     
         4 . The formula delivery device of  claim 3 , wherein a membrane covers the orifice, the membrane being pierceable. 
     
     
         5 . The formula delivery device of  claim 3 , wherein the orifice is sealed until the sealing member couples with a formulation tube in fluid communication with a fluid receiving chamber. 
     
     
         6 . The formula delivery device of  claim 3 , wherein the orifice comprises a valve. 
     
     
         7 . The formula delivery device of  claim 4 , wherein the membrane allows outgassing of the formulation while substantially preventing a flow of formulation from the formulation container. 
     
     
         8 . The formula delivery device of  claim 1 , wherein the formulation container includes a flexible wall that at least partially collapses as the formulation flows from the formulation container. 
     
     
         9 . The formula delivery device of  claim 1 , wherein the elongate housing of the consumable assembly includes a flat wall formed therein such that the formulation container is rotationally oriented when inserted into the handle. 
     
     
         10 . The formula delivery device of  claim 1 , wherein the formulation container further comprises a second formulation container provided with a second sealing member configured to enable fluid communication with the second formulation container. 
     
     
         11 . The formula delivery device of  claim 1 , further comprising the formulation. 
     
     
         12 . The formula delivery device of  claim 11 , wherein the formulation is selected from the group consisting of permanent hair dye, semi-permanent hair dye, developer, conditioner, hair growth treatment, ROGAINE®, hair protein treatment, fluid hair treatment, and fluid scalp treatment. 
     
     
         13 . The formula delivery device of  claim 1 , further comprising a plurality of formulation delivery nozzles configured to discharge the formulation from the formulation container, wherein the plurality of formulation delivery nozzles is configured to oscillate, reciprocate, or vibrate. 
     
     
         14 . The formula delivery device of  claim 13 , wherein the plurality of formulation delivery nozzles is configured to reciprocate within a slot of a head cover, the head cover having a plurality of standoff protrusions extending outwardly therefrom around the slot. 
     
     
         15 . A consumable assembly configured to be removably joined with a handle of a hair and scalp formula delivery device, the consumable assembly comprising:
 an elongate housing;   a formulation container disposed in the elongate housing and being configured to contain a volume of a formulation; and   a sealing member configured to enable fluid communication with the formulation container.   
     
     
         16 . The consumable assembly of  claim 15 , wherein the elongate housing comprises a flat wall such that the consumable assembly is rotationally oriented when inserted into the handle. 
     
     
         17 . The consumable assembly of  claim 15 , further comprising a second formulation container provided with a second sealing member configured to enable fluid communication with the second formulation container. 
     
     
         18 . The consumable assembly of  claim 15 , wherein the sealing member comprises a valve. 
     
     
         19 . The consumable assembly of  claim 15 , further comprising the formulation. 
     
     
         20 . The consumable assembly of  claim 19 , wherein the formulation is selected from the group consisting of permanent hair dye, semi-permanent hair dye, developer, conditioner, hair growth treatment, ROGAINE®, hair protein treatment, fluid hair treatment, and fluid scalp treatment.
