Abstract

The present disclosure pertains to crosslinkable compositions and systems as well as methods for forming crosslinked compositions in situ, including the use of the same for controlling the movement of bodily fluid within a patient, among many other uses.

An in situ crosslinkable composition comprising a polysiloxane having two or more alkoxy groups, a silanol compound having two or more silanol groups, a catalyst for catalyzing a reaction between the alkoxy groups and the silanol groups, a silica filler, and an imaging agent comprising a radiopaaue agent, the comDosition being confirured for injection into a vasculature of a patient such that movement of bodily fluid within the patient is controlled and (a) the composition having a viscosity as measured by oscillatory rheology at 0.1 Hz and 1% strain at 25° C. that is at least ten-fold greater than a viscosity as measured by flow rheology at a frequency of 30 Hz at 25° C., (b) the composition curing when measured at 37° C. within a time period of 1 minute to 120 minutes, (c) after being allowed to anneal for a time period of 7 days at 70° C., the composition having a viscosity as measured using oscillatory rheology at a frequency of 0.1 Hz and a strain of 1% at 25° C. or 37° C. is in the range of 3,000 to 40,000 Pa*s, (d) the composition having a combination of properties (a) and (b), (e) the composition having a combination of properties (a) and (c), (f) the composition having a combination of properties (b) and (c), or (g) the composition having a combination of properties (a), (b) and (c). 
     
     
         2 . The composition of  claim 1 , wherein the polysiloxane is a poly(dialkoxysiloxane). 
     
     
         3 . The composition of  claim 1 , wherein the alkoxy groups of the polysiloxane are selected from ethoxy groups. 
     
     
         4 . The composition of  claim 1 , wherein the silanol compound is a hydroxy-terminated polysiloxane. 
     
     
         5 . The composition of  claim 1 , wherein the silica filler is characterized by a surface area of 100-500 m 2 /g.

         7 . The composition of  claim 1 , wherein the catalyst is selected from a tin-based catalyst and a titanium-based catalyst. 
     
     
         8 . The composition of  claim 1 , wherein the composition further comprises a diluent.

         12 . A system for controlling the movement of bodily fluid within a patient, comprising: (a) the composition of  claim 1  and (b) a delivery device containing the composition.

The system of  claim 12 , wherein the system comprises two or more composition portions that when combined form the composition, and wherein the two or more composition portions comprise a first composition portion and a second composition portion separated from each other within the delivery device. 
     
     
         14 . The system of  claim 13 , wherein the first composition portion comprises the polysiloxane having two or more alkoxy groups, the silanol compound having two or more silanol groups, and the silica filler; and wherein the second composition portion comprises a second filler, the catalyst for catalyzing the reaction between the alkoxy groups and the silanol groups, and a diluent.

The composition of  claim 19 , wherein the polysiloxane having two or more alkoxy groups is a poly(dialkoxysiloxane), wherein the silanol compound having two or more silanol groups is a hydroxy-terminated polysiloxane, and wherein the catalyst is selected from a tin-based catalyst and a titanium-based catalyst. 
     
     
         21 . The composition of  claim 20 , wherein the composition has a combination of properties (a), (b) and (c). 
     
     
         22 . The composition of  claim 21 , wherein the composition comprises a trialkylsiloxy-terminated polysiloxane diluent. 
     
     
         23 . The composition of  claim 19 , wherein the radiopaque agent comprises a radiopaque metal, a radiopaque metal alloy, or a radiopaque metal oxide. 
     
     
         24 . The composition of  claim 19 , wherein the radiopaque agent comprises a radiopaque metal oxide. 
     
     
         25 . The composition of  claim 20 , wherein the radiopaque agent comprises a radiopaque metal oxide. 
     
     
         26 . The composition of  claim 19 , wherein the radiopaque agent comprises bismuth oxide. 
     
     
         27 . The composition of  claim 19 , wherein the delivery site is an abdominal aortic aneurysm site.
