Abstract
Because the current RRC: ACTIVE SET UPDATE message presently used in soft handover does not contain HS-DSCH related information, which could be utilized for a Serving HS-DSCH cell change, a separate Radio Bearer Control procedure is needed between the UE ( 10 ) and the RNC ( 20 ) for carrying out the Serving HS-DSCH cell change. Should HS-DSCH related information—applicable to Serving HS-DSCH cell change—be added to the RRC: ACTIVE SET UPDATE message ( 32 ), an unnecessary Radio Bearer Control procedure is avoided, and the drawbacks of the current method are overcome.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A method for execution in user equipment, comprising:
communicating with a network node over a high-speed downlink shared channel (HS-DSCH) via a radio link at a current serving HS-DSCH cell; receiving, from the network node, an active set update message comprising an order directing the user equipment to make one or more of the following modifications to an active set of a connection: radio link addition and radio link removal, wherein when the order indicates radio link addition, the active set update message further comprises an indicator for determining a new serving HS-DSCH radio link and a new HS-DSCH Radio Network Temporary Identifier (New H-RNTI); modifying the active set according to the order of the active set update message, by either or both adding a radio link to or removing a radio link from the active set; configuring the user equipment to operate with a new serving HS-DSCH radio link determined according to the indicator of the new serving HS-DSCH cell; and then using the New H-RNTI as the UE identity for HS-SCCH reception.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the user equipment communicates with the radio network controller using Fractional DPCH, with one or more MAC-d flows mapped on HS-DSCH.
3 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
resetting a MAC-hs entity according to a MAC-hs reset indicator included in the active set update message.
4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the active set update message includes HS-SCCH information and HARQ information, the method further comprising:
receiving HS-SCCH according to a HS-SCCH channelization code provided by the HS-SCCH information; and configuring the MAC-hs entity according to the number of HARQ processes provided by the HARQ information.
5 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
after the adding or removing step and the configuring steps, sending an active set update complete message to the radio network controller.
6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein when the order indicates radio link addition, the adding step is performed before the configuring step.
7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein in response to the order indicating radio link removal, the removing step is performed after the configuring step.
8 . The method of claim 1 , wherein when the order indicates both radio link addition and removal and the size of current active set is below the maximum allowed, the configuring step is performed after the adding step and before the removing step.
9 . The method of claim 1 , wherein when the order indicates both radio link addition and removal and the size of current active set is at the maximum allowed, the removing step is followed by the adding step and then by the configuring step.
10 . A user equipment apparatus comprising:
a communication interface configured to:
communicate with a network node over a high-speed downlink shared channel (HS-DSCH) via a radio link at a current serving HS-DSCH cell, and
receive, from the network node, an active set update message comprising an order directing the user equipment to make one or more of the following modifications to an active set of a connection: radio link addition and radio link removal, wherein when the order indicates radio link addition, the active set update message further comprises an indicator for determining a new serving HS-DSCH radio link and a new HS-DSCH Radio Network Temporary Identifier (New H-RNTI); and
a processor configured to:
modify the active set according to the order of the active set update message, by either or both adding a radio link to or removing a radio link from the active set,
configure the user equipment to operate with a new serving HS-DSCH radio link determined according to the indicator of the new serving HS-DSCH cell, and
use the New H-RNTI as the UE identity for HS-SCCH reception.
11 . The user equipment apparatus of claim 10 , wherein the communication interface is further configured to communicate with the radio network controller using Fractional DPCH, with one or more MAC-d flows mapped on HS-DSCH.
12 . The user equipment apparatus of claim 10 , wherein the processor is further configured to reset a MAC-hs entity according to a MAC-hs reset indicator included in the active set update message.
13 . The user equipment apparatus of claim 10 , wherein the active set update message includes HS-SCCH information and HARQ information, the processor further configured to:
receive HS-SCCH according to a HS-SCCH channelization code provided by the HS-SCCH information; and configure the MAC-hs entity according to the number of HARQ processes provided by the HARQ information.
14 . The user equipment apparatus of claim 10 , wherein the processor is further configured to send, via the communication interface, an active set update complete message to the radio network controller after performing the configuring step after one of the adding and removing steps.
15 . The user equipment apparatus of claim 10 , wherein when the order indicates radio link addition, the processor is further configured to perform the adding step before the configuring step.
16 . The user equipment apparatus of claim 10 , wherein the processor is further configured to, in response to the order indicating radio link removal, perform the removing step performed after the configuring step.
17 . The user equipment apparatus of claim 10 , wherein the processor is further configured to, when the order indicates both radio link addition and removal and the size of current active set is below the maximum allowed, perform the configuring step after the adding step and before the removing step.
18 . The user equipment apparatus of claim 10 , wherein the processor is further configured to, when the order indicates both radio link addition and removal and the size of current active set is at the maximum allowed, perform the removing step followed by the adding step and then by the configuring step.Cited by (0)
