Claims
Abstract
An implant device has an exterior portion forming an exterior surface of the implant. The exterior portion is made of a porous material defining passages through the exterior portion. An inner portion has an outer surface with a treated area that is accessible from the exterior surface through the passages. The treated area has a treatment for direct attachment to bone or soft tissue.

1 . An implant device comprising:
an exterior portion formed from a porous material and defining an exterior surface including passages extending into the exterior portion; a core forming an interior portion to which the exterior portion is coupled, wherein together the exterior portion and core form a transgingival flared coronal end portion of the implant device; and a threaded endosseous portion extending apical of the flared coronal end portion.
2 . The implant device of claim 1 , wherein the exterior portion forms a full or partial ring about the core.
3 . The implant device of claim 1 , wherein the porous material is configured for soft tissue ingrowth.
4 . The implant device of claim 1 , wherein at least the exterior portion has a treated area, wherein the treated area has a treatment comprising at least a roughening of the exterior surface.
5 . The implant device of claim 1 , wherein at least the exterior portion has a treated area, wherein the treated area has a treatment comprising at least coating the exterior surface with a bio-reactive material.
6 . The implant device of claim 1 , wherein at least the exterior portion has a treated area, wherein the treated area has a treatment comprising at least one of:
threads, annular grooves, surface recesses, at least one bio-compatible coating, and at least one porous coating.
7 . The implant device of claim 1 , wherein at least the exterior portion has a treated area, wherein the treated area has a treatment for direct attachment to soft tissue.
8 . The implant device of claim 1 , wherein at least the exterior portion has a first treated area, wherein the first treated area has a first treatment for direct attachment to soft tissue, wherein the threaded endosseous portion has a second treated area, wherein the second treated area has a second treatment for direct attachment to bone.

The implant device of claim 8 , further comprising a dental abutment configured to mount to the implant device, wherein the dental abutment has a core and an exterior portion mounted to the core, wherein at least the exterior portion of the dental abutment has a treated area, wherein the treated area has a treatment for direct attachment to soft tissue.
10 . A dental abutment comprising:
an exterior portion formed from a porous material and defining an exterior surface including passages extending into the exterior portion; and a core forming an interior portion to which the exterior portion is coupled, wherein at least the exterior surface of the dental abutment has a treated area, wherein the treated area has a treatment for direct attachment to soft tissue.
11 . The dental abutment of claim 10 , wherein the exterior portion forms a full or partial ring about the core.
12 . The dental abutment of claim 10 , wherein the porous material is configured for soft tissue ingrowth.
13 . The dental abutment of claim 10 , wherein the treated area has a treatment comprising at least a roughening of the exterior surface.
14 . The dental abutment of claim 10 , wherein the treated area has a treatment comprising at least coating the exterior surface with a bio-reactive material.
15 . The dental abutment of claim 10 , wherein the treated area has a treatment comprising at least one of:
threads, annular grooves, surface recesses, at least one bio-compatible coating, and at least one porous coating.
16 . The dental abutment of claim 10 , wherein the treated area has a treatment for direct attachment to soft tissue.
17 . The dental abutment of claim 10 , wherein the first treated area has a first treatment for direct attachment to soft tissue, wherein the dental abutment has a second treated area, wherein the second treated area has a second treatment for direct attachment to bone.

The dental abutment of claim 10 , further comprising a dental implant configured to couple to the dental abutment, wherein the dental implant has a core and an exterior portion mounted to the core, wherein at least the exterior portion of the dental implant has a treated area, wherein the treated area has a treatment for direct attachment to bone.
19 . An implant device including a transgingival flared coronal end portion, the implant device comprising:
an exterior portion formed out of porous material and including an exterior surface comprising passages extending throughout the exterior portion; a core disposed within the exterior portion; and a threaded endosseous portion extending apical of the flared coronal end portion.Cited by (0)
