Claims

Abstract

A sleep mask is created comprising a sleep mask cover that can accommodate a weighted mask component and a thermal mask component. The sleep mask cover may include a fastening mechanism at the opening which may be removably engaged or disengaged to disable or enable, respectively, access to the opening for insertion of the weighted mask component and the thermal mask component. The weighted mask component may include a set of eye panels that are devoid of weight material to prevent unwanted pressure on a human user's eyes when the sleep mask is worn around the head of a human user. Further, the weighted mask component may include a pocket for insertion of the thermal mask component.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A sleep mask, comprising:
 a weighted mask component comprising:
 a forward panel; 
 a rear panel, the rear panel attached to the forward panel via a second seam along a periphery of the weighted mask component; 
 an internal chamber that includes a weight material; and 
 a pocket panel attached to the rear panel using an elastic tape sewn into sides of the rear panel, resulting in a pocket; 
   a thermal mask component insertable into the pocket of the weighted mask component; and   a sleep mask cover comprising:
 a front cover component; 
 a rear cover component, the rear cover component attached to the front cover component via a seam along sides of the sleep mask cover and a bottom of the sleep mask cover; 
 a second internal chamber generated via an opening between the front cover component and the rear cover component along a upper portion of the sleep mask cover, the second internal chamber usable to removably insert the weighted mask component and the thermal mask component into the sleep mask cover; and 
   a strap attached to the sides of the sleep mask cover.   
     
     
         2 . The sleep mask of  claim 1 , wherein the weighted mask component further comprises a set of eye panels generated by adhering, at a face of the forward panel and a face of the rear panel, the forward panel to the rear panel such that the eye panels are devoid of the weight material. 
     
     
         3 . The sleep mask of  claim 1 , wherein the thermal mask component comprises:
 a shell;   a thermal gel inserted into the shell; and   a set of eye cutouts devoid of the thermal gel.   
     
     
         4 . The sleep mask of  claim 1 , wherein the sleep mask cover further comprises a fastening mechanism adhered to each of the front cover component and the rear cover component at the opening to allow removable engagement of the fastening mechanism for access to the opening. 
     
     
         5 . The sleep mask of  claim 1 , wherein the front cover component comprises a first material and the second cover component comprises a second material, the first material being different from the second material. 
     
     
         6 . The sleep mask of  claim 1 , wherein the strap comprises a first strap component and a second strap component, the first strap component comprising a first fastening component and the second strap component comprising a second fastening component that allows removable engagement with the first fastening component. 
     
     
         7 . The sleep mask of  claim 1 , wherein the weighted mask compartment further comprises a set of banded compartments for storage of the weighted material, the set of banded compartments generated by adhering, linearly across a face of the forward panel and a face of the rear panel, the forward panel to the rear panel. 
     
     
         8 . A method for creating a sleep mask, comprising:
 creating a sleep mask cover by at least:
 adhering a front cover component of a sleep mask cover to a rear cover component of a sleep mask cover such that the front cover component and the rear cover component are adjoined to form a bottom peripheral edge of the sleep mask cover, side tabs at peripheral side edges of the sleep mask cover, and an opening at an upper peripheral edge of the sleep mask cover; 
 adhering, to each of the side tabs of the sleep mask cover, a first strap component and a second strap component; and 
 adhering a fastening mechanism to each of the front cover component and the rear cover component at the opening to enable removable engagement of the fastening mechanism for access to the opening; 
   creating a weighted mask component by at least:
 adhering a forward panel of the weighted mask component to a rear panel of the weighted mask component such that the forward panel and the rear panel are adjoined along peripheral edges of the weighted mask component while maintaining an opening for insertion of weighted material into the weighted mask component; 
 inverting the forward panel and the rear panel through the opening; 
 generating eye panels by adhering, at a face of the forward panel and a face of the rear panel, the forward panel to the rear panel; 
 inserting weight material into the weighted mask component via the opening; and 
 closing the opening; 
   creating a thermal mask component comprising a set of eye cutouts and a thermal gel inserted within a shell of the thermal mask component;   inserting the thermal mask component and the weighted mask component into the opening of the sleep mask cover such that the set of eye cutouts of the thermal mask component are aligned with the eye panels of the weighted mask component within the sleep mask cover; and   engaging the fastening mechanism of the sleep mask cover to close the opening.   
     
     
         9 . The method of  claim 8 , wherein the fastening mechanism of the sleep mask cover is a zipper. 
     
     
         10 . The method of  claim 8 , wherein creating the weighted mask component further comprises generating a pocket by adhering a pocket panel to opposite peripheral edges of the weighted mask component through sewing of a set of elastic tape segments attached to opposite ends of the pocket panel to the opposite peripheral edges of the weighted mask component. 
     
     
         11 . The method of  claim 10 , wherein the method further comprises inserting the thermal mask component into the pocket of the weighted mask component. 
     
     
         12 . The method of  claim 8 , wherein:
 the first strap component comprises a first fastening component of a set of hook and loop fasteners;   the second strap component comprises a second fastening component of the set of hook and loop fasteners, the second fastening component being different from the first fastening component; and   the method further comprises allowing removable engagement of the first fastening component to the second fastening component via overlapping of the second strap component with the first strap component.   
     
     
         13 . The method of  claim 8 , wherein the front cover component and the rear cover component comprise a material selected from a group consisting of cashmere, imitation cashmere, fleece, leather, satin, suede, velvet, fustian, corduroy, flannel, tweed, polyester, and micro-fiber fabric. 
     
     
         14 . The method of  claim 8 , wherein the weight material comprises a glass mixture comprising 70 to 75 percent silicon dioxide, 10 to 15 percent sodium oxide, 7 to 9 percent calcium oxide, 2 to 3 percent aluminum oxide, 1 to 1.25 percent magnesium oxide, less than one percent potassium oxide, and less than one percent ferric oxide.
