Abstract
The present invention provides safe and effective methods for the treatment of sialorrhea (excessive drooling) by administering an effective amount of N-desethyloxybutynin, or an optical R- or S-isomer thereof or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.

11 . An oral or buccal dosage form comprising a therapeutically effective amount of N-desethyloxybutynin, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.
12 . The oral or buccal dosage form of claim 11 , wherein the N-desethyloxybutynin or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof comprises (R)—N-desethyloxybutynin, (S)—N-desethyloxybutynin, pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof, or a combination thereof.
13 . The oral or buccal dosage form of claim 11 , wherein the N-desethyloxybutynin or pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof is administered as an immediate release dosage form.
14 . The oral or buccal dosage form of claim 11 , wherein the N-desethyloxybutynin or pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof is administered as a controlled release dosage form.
15 . The oral or buccal dosage form of claim 11 , wherein the N-desethyloxybutynin or pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof is administered as an extended release dosage form.
16 . The oral or buccal dosage form of claim 11 , wherein the amount of N-desethyloxybutynin or pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof is from about 1 mg to about 100 mg.
17 . The oral or buccal dosage form of claim 11 , where in the amount N-desethyloxybutynin or pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof is from about 2 mg to about 30 mg.
18 . The oral or buccal dosage form of claim 11 , wherein the N-desethyloxybutynin or pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof is administered as an oral tablet, capsule, lozenge, cachet, troche, adhesive, liquid, solution, syrup, elixir, dispersion, suspension, granule or powder.
19 . The oral or buccal dosage form of claim 11 , wherein the N-desethyloxybutynin or pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof is administered in a composition that dissolves in the mouth, adheres to the gum or inside of the cheek, or is held sublingually.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
