Abstract

The current invention involves the administration of negatively charged particles, such as polystyrene, PLGA, or diamond particles, to subjects to ameliorate inflammatory immune responses. Additionally, the present invention describes methods of treating inflammatory diseases by administering these same negatively charged particles.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

. A pharmaceutical composition comprising negatively charged poly (lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) particles, wherein the particles have a diameter ranging from 0.1 μm to 10 μm and a zeta potential ranging from −100 mV to −30 mV, and the particles are free from an additional therapeutic agent.

. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 1 , wherein the diameter is about 0.5 μm.

. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 1 , wherein the diameter ranges from about 0.1 μm to about 1 μm.

. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 1 , wherein the diameter ranges from about 0.3 μm to about 5 μm.

. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 1 , wherein the diameter ranges from about 0.5 μm to about 3 μm.

. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 1 , wherein the diameter ranges from about 0.5 μm to about 1 μm.

. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 1 , wherein the ratio of poly lactic acid to poly glycolic acid in the PLGA particles is about 50:50, about 80:20 or about 90:10.

. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 1 , wherein the ratio of poly lactic acid to poly glycolic acid in the PLGA particles is about 50:50.

. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 1 , comprising a buffer.

. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 1 , comprising an isotonic agent.

. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 1 , comprising a surfactant.

. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 1 , comprising a preservative.

. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 1 , wherein the zeta potential ranges from −75 mV to −40 mV.

. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 13 , wherein the diameter ranges from about 0.5 μm to about 1 μm.

. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 14 , wherein the ratio of poly lactic acid to poly glycolic acid in the PLGA particles is 50:50.

. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 15 , comprising a buffer, an isotonic agent, a surfactant, a preservative, or combinations thereof.

. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 1 , wherein the zeta potential ranges from −40 mV to −30 mV.

. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 17 , wherein the diameter ranges from about 0.5 μm to about 1 μm.

. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 18 , wherein the ratio of poly lactic acid to poly glycolic acid in the PLGA particles is 50:50.

. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 19 , comprising a buffer, an isotonic agent, a surfactant, a preservative, or combinations thereof.
