Towel With Pocket

Abstract

A towel, formed in a rectangle, formed of an absorbent material. Closable pockets are formed in one or more of the corners. Each of the pockets has a closure mechanism that allows closing the pocket to hold things in the pocket. The pockets can be filled with rocks or sand for example to hold down edges of the towel. The pockets can also be filled with personal items when the towel is being used in a gym or spa.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A towel, comprising:
 a towel formed of an absorbent material of a first thickness, the towel having a rectangular shape;   a pocket, formed at said at least at one corner of the towel, said pocket having an opening, the opening exposing an interior space inside the pocket, and the opening having a closure mechanism extending across the opening, the closure mechanism being opened in order to allow items to be placed into the interior space, and the closure mechanism being closed to maintain the items, once placed, in the interior space,   the pocket formed of a material having a second thickness that is thinner than the first thickness; and   the pocket attached to an area of the towel spaced from edges of the towel.   
     
     
         2 . The towel as in  claim 1 , wherein the pocket separable from the towel at areas of the corner other than at the opening. 
     
     
         3 . The towel as in  claim 1 , where the closure is Velcro. 
     
     
         4 . The towel as in  claim 1 , wherein the pocket is attached to the towel along a line adjacent the opening of the pocket, and is separable from the towel between the line adjacent the opening of the pocket and the corner itself. 
     
     
         5 . The towel as in  claim 1 , wherein there are at least two pockets on the towel. 
     
     
         6 . The towel as in  claim 6 , wherein the absorbent material of the towel has a thickness of at least 1/16 of an inch, and the material of the pocket has a thickness of no more than 1/32 of an inch. 
     
     
         7 . A towel, comprising:
 a towel formed of an absorbent material, the towel formed in a shape, said shape having at least one corner;   a pocket, formed at said at least one corner, said pocket having an opening, the opening exposing an interior space inside the pocket, and the opening having a closure mechanism extending across the opening, the closure mechanism being opened in order to allow items to be placed into the interior space, and the closure mechanism being closed to maintain the items, once placed, in the interior space inside the pocket,   the pocket formed of a material which is thinner than the absorbent material of the towel; and   the pocket attached to an area of the towel adjacent the opening to the pocket, and being separable from the towel at areas of the corner other than at the opening.   
     
     
         8 . The towel as in  claim 7 , wherein the towel is rectangular in outer shape. 
     
     
         9 . The towel as in  claim 7 , where the closure is Velcro. 
     
     
         10 . The towel as in  claim 7 , wherein the pocket is attached at a first location spaced from an edge of the corner, and is not attached to the towel at the corner of the towel. 
     
     
         11 . The towel as in  claim 7 , wherein the pocket is attached to the towel along the line adjacent the opening of the pocket, and is separable from the towel between the line adjacent the opening of the pocket and the corner itself. 
     
     
         12 . The towel as in  claim 7 , further comprising a second pocket, attached to a second corner of the towel. 
     
     
         13 . The towel as in  claim 12 , further comprising a third pocket attached to a third corner of the towel and a fourth pocket attached to a fourth corner of the towel. 
     
     
         14 . The towel as in  claim 11 , wherein the absorbent material of the towel has a thickness of at least 1/16 of an inch, and the material of the pocket has a thickness of no more than 1/32 of an inch.
