Abstract
Disclosed are the use of fluorine substituted olefins, including tetra- and penta-fluoropropenes, in a variety of applications, including in methods of depositing catalyst on a solid support, methods of sterilizing articles, cleaning methods and compositions, methods of applying medicaments, fire extinguishing/suppression compositions and methods, flavor formulations, fragrance formulations and inflating agents.

exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A method of depositing catalyst on a solid support comprising precipitating particles of said catalyst from a compound of formula I in a supercritical or near supercritical state:

where X is a C2 or a C3 unsaturated, substituted or unsubstituted, radical, R is independently Cl, F, Br, I or H, and z is 1 to 3.
56 . The method of claim 1 wherein said at least one fluoroalkene is a compound of Formula II:
where each R is independently Cl, F, Br, I or H
R′ is (CR2)nY,
Y is CRF2
and n is 0 or 1.
2 . The method of claim 1 wherein Y is CF3.
3 . The method of claim 2 wherein at least one R on the unsaturated terminal carbon is H.
4 . The method of claim 3 wherein n is 0.
5 . The method of claim 1 wherein n is 0.
6 . The method of claim 1 wherein Y is CF3 and n is 0.
7 . The method of claim 1 wherein said at least one fluoroalkene comprises at least one tetrafluoropropene (HFO-1234).
8 . The method of claim 7 wherein said at least one fluoroalkene further comprises at least one pentafluoropropene (HFO-1225).
9 . The method of claim 7 wherein said at least one tetrafluoropropene comprises 1,3,3,3-tetrafluoropropene (HFO-1234ze).

13 . A method of treating an article or an organism with a composition comprising: providing a composition comprising at least one fluoroalkene in accordance with Formula I:

where X is a C2 or a C3 unsaturated, substituted or unsubstituted, alkyl radical, R is independently Cl, F, Br, I or H, and z is 1 to 3; and introducing said composition to the article or the organism.
14 . The method of claim 13 wherein said organism is a human.
15 . The method of claim 13 wherein said introducing step comprises providing said composition to a metered dose inhaler (MDI) and discharging the composition from said MDI.
16 . The method of claim 13 comprising sterilizing an article by contacting said article with said composition.
