Automated Medical Diagnosis, Risk Management, and Decision Support Systems and Methods
Abstract
In one aspect, the invention relates to method and systems for automating medical data processing and counseling. A method may include receiving a selection of a condition associated with a plurality of diagnosis possibilities for a patient. The method may further include displaying candidate treatment options based upon, at least in part, the condition associated with the plurality of diagnosis possibilities for the patient. The method may also include receiving a selection of a candidate treatment option from the candidate treatment options displayed and a regimen associated with the candidate treatment option selected. The method may additionally include determining a diagnosis for the patient based upon, at least in part, the condition associated with the plurality of diagnosis possibilities for the patient, the candidate treatment option, and the regimen. The diagnosis may be one of the plurality of diagnosis possibilities for the patient.
Claims

1 - 16 . (canceled)
17 . A computer based method using at least one processor and at least one memory, the method comprising:
receiving a diagnosis for a person and a proposed treatment plan; identifying a set of treatment plans associated with the diagnosis; receiving a configuration indicating which of a plurality of analyzer rules to run, each of the plurality of analyzer rules including parameters specifying input data and including one or more indicators that each correspond to a pre-defined error code associated with a violation of evidence-based medicine criteria, wherein the violation is based on patient specific data; running two or more analyzer rules in parallel with respect to the set of treatment plans and the proposed treatment plan, at least one of the analyzer rules including an indicator whose predefined error code is associated with a violation corresponding to one or both of the proposed treatment plan and a plan from among the set of treatment plans; and identifying a violation based on at least one of the analyzer rules and displaying the indicator associated with the violation.
18 . The method of claim 17 , wherein at least one of the two or more analyzer rules includes an indicator corresponding to a pre-defined error code associated with a violation of at least one of a treatment cycle, drug, or drug group associated with the evidence-based medicine criteria.
19 . The method of claim 18 , wherein at least one of the two or more analyzer rules includes an indicator corresponding to a pre-defined error code associated with a violation of a dose associated with the evidence-based medicine criteria.
20 . The method of claim 17 , further comprising storing data representative of parameters tied to a patient associated with the running of analyzer rules, and a number of indicators generated.
21 . The method of claim 17 , wherein
at least one of the two or more analyzer rules includes an indicator corresponding to a pre-defined error code associated with a violation of identified insurance policy language, and the method further comprises transmitting the identified language to an insurer.
22 . The method of claim 17 , wherein
the configuration further indicates in which order to run the two or more analyzer rules, and said running of the two or more analyzer rules includes running the two or more analyzer rules in an order based upon the configuration.
23 . The method of claim 17 , further comprising storing an analyzer run including data representative of the configuration and results of said running of the two or more analyzer rules.
24 . The method of claim 23 , wherein the stored analyzer run includes the indicators whose corresponding error codes are associated with violations occurring during said running of the two or more analyzer rules.
25 . The method of claim 17 , wherein the patient specific data includes one or more items selected from the group consisting of symptoms, laboratory data, pathology information, prior treatments, test results, temperature, weight, blood pressure, imaging data, and medical data.
26 . The method of claim 17 , wherein the patient specific data includes the patient's medical condition.
27 . The method of claim 26 , wherein the patient specific data includes a present stage of the patient's medical condition.
28 . The method of claim 17 , wherein said identifying the set of treatment plans associated with the diagnosis includes generating the set of treatment plans based on evidence-based medicine.
29 . The method of claim 28 , wherein the set of treatment plans is generated consistent with payment guidelines of a payer.
30 . The method of claim 17 , wherein at least one of the two or more analyzer rules includes an indicator having customizable text for describing the violation.
31 . The method of claim 30 , further comprising displaying a user interface for customizing the customizable text.
32 . The method of claim 31 , wherein the user interface allows customization of the customizable text after compilation.
33 . The method of claim 17 , further comprising, for each of the two or more analyzer rules, transferring to a master list the indicators whose corresponding error codes are associated with violations occurring during said running of the two or more analyzer rules.
34 . The method of claim 33 , wherein
at least one of the two or more analyzer rules includes an indicator having customizable text for describing the violation, and the method further comprises displaying the customizable text in the master list.
35 . A non-transitory computer-readable medium on which are stored instructions executable by a processor to perform operations comprising:
receiving a diagnosis for a person and a proposed treatment plan; identifying a set of treatment plans associated with the diagnosis; receiving a configuration indicating which of a plurality of analyzer rules to run, each of the plurality of analyzer rules including parameters specifying input data and including one or more indicators that each correspond to a pre-defined error code associated with a violation of evidence-based medicine criteria, wherein the violation is based on patient specific data; running two or more analyzer rules in parallel with respect to the set of treatment plans and the proposed treatment plan, at least one of the analyzer rules including an indicator whose predefined error code is associated with a violation corresponding to one or both of the proposed treatment plan and a plan from among the set of treatment plans; and identifying a violation based on at least one of the analyzer rules and displaying the indicator associated with the violation.
36 . A system comprising:
one or more memories storing a plurality of analyzer rules, each of the plurality of analyzer rules including parameters specifying input data and including one or more indicators that each correspond to a pre-defined error code associated with a violation of evidence-based medicine criteria, wherein the violation is based on patient specific data; one or more computing devices for receiving a diagnosis for a person and a proposed treatment plan, identifying a set of treatment plans associated with the diagnosis, receiving a configuration indicating which of the plurality of analyzer rules to run, running two or more analyzer rules in parallel with respect to the set of treatment plans and the proposed treatment plan, and identifying a violation based on at least one of the analyzer rules, the at least one of the analyzer rules including an indicator whose predefined error code is associated with a violation corresponding to one or both of the proposed treatment plan and a plan from among the set of treatment plans; and one or more displays for displaying the indicator associated with the violation.Cited by (0)
