Abstract

A prosthesis is disclosed for placement across an ostium opening from a main body lumen to a branch body lumen. The prosthesis comprises a radially expansible support, at least two axially elongate longitudinal members, at least one of which can be fronds, extending from an end of the support, and a circumferential member connected to at least one axially elongate longitudinal member and unconnected to at least one other axially elongate longitudinal member.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A prosthesis for placement at an ostium opening from a main body lumen to a branch body lumen, the prosthesis comprising:
 a radially expansible support configured to be deployed in at least a portion of the branch body lumen;   a plurality of longitudinal members extending from either a proximal or distal end of the support, the longitudinal members configured to be positioned in the main body lumen; and   a circumferential member,   wherein at least one of the longitudinal members further comprises a first end and a second end, the first end coupled with a portion of the prosthesis distal of the second end, and the second end coupled with the circumferential member, wherein at least one other longitudinal member is not coupled with the circumferential member.   
     
     
         2 . The prosthesis of  claim 1 , wherein the at least one other longitudinal member comprises a frond not coupled with the circumferential member. 
     
     
         3 . The prosthesis of  claim 1 , wherein the support has a first wall pattern, and the prosthesis comprises a transition portion disposed between the support and the circumferential member that has a second wall pattern different from the first wall pattern. 
     
     
         4 . The prosthesis of  claim 3 , wherein the transition portion has a circumferential surface area that is higher toward the first end of the transition portion and lower toward the second ends of the transition portion. 
     
     
         5 . The prosthesis of  claim 3 , wherein proximal ends of the transition portion are configured to reach a location in the proximal main body lumen and a location in the distal main body lumen. 
     
     
         6 . The prosthesis of  claim 3 , wherein the proximal ends of the transition portion are configured to open up in different direction to follow the ostium opening. 
     
     
         7 . The prosthesis of  claim 3 , wherein the transition portion is coupled with apices on the support, the transition portion having a first plurality of side-by-side filaments and a second lesser plurality of side-by-side filaments. 
     
     
         8 . The prosthesis of  claim 1 , wherein the circumferential member is configured to anchor the support. 
     
     
         9 . The prosthesis of  claim 1 , wherein the longitudinal member comprises is a single filament. 
     
     
         10 . The prosthesis of  claim 1 , wherein the longitudinal member comprises a serpentine or sinusoidal member. 
     
     
         11 . The prosthesis of  claim 1 , wherein the longitudinal member comprises a dual serpentine member. 
     
     
         12 . The prosthesis of  claim 1 , wherein the longitudinal member is configured to act as a compression member transferring force applied to the support or applied to the transition portion to the circumferential member. 
     
     
         13 . The prosthesis of  claim 1 , wherein the longitudinal member is configured to act as a tension member capable of resisting tensile force of a magnitude applied during deployment. 
     
     
         14 . The prosthesis of  claim 1 , wherein the longitudinal member is configured to be a compression and a tension member. 
     
     
         15 . The prosthesis of  claim 1 , wherein the circumferential member comprises two circumferential rings coupled together with an axial link. 
     
     
         16 . The prosthesis of  claim 1 , wherein at least one of the longitudinal members comprises a frond. 
     
     
         17 . The prosthesis of  claim 16 , wherein the at least one frond comprises a transition portion having a first end coupled with the support and a plurality of second ends spaced apart from the support. 
     
     
         18 . A prosthesis for placement at an opening from a main body lumen to a branch body lumen, the prosthesis comprising:
 a radially expansible support configured to be deployed in at least a portion of the branch body lumen, the support adapted to provide a radial force to support the branch body lumen;   a plurality of longitudinal members extending from an end of the support, the longitudinal members configured to reach into the main body lumen when deployed; and   a circumferential member spaced apart from the support and providing a second radial strength less than the first radial strength when deployed, the circumferential member connected to at least one of the fronds and unconnected to at least one other frond.   
     
     
         19 . The prosthesis of  claim 18 , wherein the longitudinal members comprise a transition portion, and the at least one of the longitudinal members connected to the circumferential member further comprises an elongate portion having a first end coupled with the transition portion and a second end coupled with the circumferential member. 
     
     
         20 . The prosthesis of  claim 18 , wherein the longitudinal members are configured to reach a location in the proximal main body lumen and a location in the distal main body lumen. 
     
     
         21 . A prosthesis for placement at an ostium opening from a first body lumen to a second body lumen, the prosthesis comprising:
 a radially expansible support configured to be deployed in at least a portion of the first body lumen;   at least two longitudinal members extending from an end of the support, all of the longitudinal members configured to be positioned in the second body lumen when deployed; and   a circumferential member connected to at least one of the fronds and unconnected to at least one other frond.   
     
     
         22 . The prosthesis of  claim 21 , wherein the at least one longitudinal members connected to the circumferential member is configured to be disposed in the second body lumen in an upstream or downstream direction from the ostium when deployed. 
     
     
         23 . The prosthesis of  claim 21 , wherein the circumferential member is configured to be positioned in the second body lumen when deployed.
