Abstract

An instrument system for locating leakage at a subscriber's premises is disclosed.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . An instrument system, comprising:
a first instrument configured to secured to a port at a subscriber's premises, the first instrument including a transmitter operable to generate in a number of different frequency sub-bands across a frequency range of about 100 MHz to about 1.2 GHz, and a second instrument include an antenna operable to receive the signals.

2 . The instrument system of claim 1 , wherein the second instrument includes a signal level meter coupled to the antenna, the signal level meter being operable to scan the frequency sub-bands, locate the signals, and determine a leakage amplitude and frequency.

3 . The instrument system of claim 1 , wherein the antenna includes a monopole antenna and a loop antenna.

5 . An instrument system, comprising:
an antenna assembly operable to receive signals in multiple frequency sub-bands and supply those signals to a signal level meter or other test instrument to scan the multiple frequency sub-bands, locate the signals, and determine a leakage amplitude and frequency based on the signals.

6 . A method of locating leakage in a cable network system, the method comprising:
energizing a first instrument secured to a port at a subscriber's premises to generate in a number of different frequency sub-bands across a frequency range of about 100 MHz to about 1.2 GHz, and operating a second instrument to receive the signals and locate leakage in a cable network system.
