Abstract
Wound treatment compositions obtained from cadaveric tissues are provided. Methods of processing such tissues to form wound treatment compositions are provided. Methods of treating a wound are also provided.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedI claim:
1 . A method of preparing a wound treatment composition comprising the steps of:
harvesting muscle tissue from a cadaver donor; and morselizing the muscle tissue to form the wound treatment composition, wherein the wound treatment composition is substantially devoid of lactic acid, alcohol, or acetic acid, and wherein the morselized muscle tissue comprises muscle tissue particles having a size of from 1 μm to 2 mm.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the wound treatment composition is formulated to be self-shaping.
3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the wound treatment composition has a viscosity greater than 1 mPas but less than 10 mPas as determined by ASTM D445.
4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the composition is flowable.
5 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising the step of stimulating at least one stem cell within the muscle tissue prior to harvesting.
6 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising the step of introducing one or more germicides, antibiotics, analgesics, or local anesthetic agents to the wound treatment composition.
7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the wound treatment composition is formulated as a paste or putty.
8 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising the step of introducing a collagen source to the wound treatment composition.
9 . The method of claim 8 , wherein the collagen source is a collagen pad.
10 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the muscle tissue is voluntary muscle tissue.
11 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising the step of introducing a pharmaceutically acceptable liquid to the wound treatment composition.
12 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the pharmaceutically acceptable liquid comprises tris(hydroxymethyl)aminomethane).
13 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the pharmaceutically acceptable liquid comprises N-2-hydroxyethylpiperazine-N′-2-ethanesulfonic acid (HEPES).
14 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the pharmaceutically acceptable liquid comprises 3-(N-morpholino) propanesulfonic acid (MOPS).
15 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the pharmaceutically acceptable liquid comprises sodium acetate.
16 . A method of treating or promoting healing of a wound comprising the step of:
introducing a wound treatment composition to the wound, wherein the wound treatment composition comprises cadaveric muscle particles substantially devoid of lactic acid, alcohol, or acetic acid, the cadaveric muscle particles having a size of from 1 μm to 2 mm.
17 . The method of claim 16 , wherein the step of introducing the wound treatment includes injecting the wound treatment composition in or around the wound.
18 . The method of claim 16 , further comprising the step of introducing a second wound treatment composition to the wound.Cited by (0)
