Terminal setting change notification

Abstract

There is disclosed a method, and a corresponding apparatus, for maintaining the settings of a user equipment, comprising: monitoring at least one stored setting in the terminal; responsive to a change in said at least one stored setting notifying a controller; and responsive to said notification selectively resetting said at least one stored setting.

1 . A method of updating terminal configuration parameter settings for a network service at a mobile terminal, the method comprising:
 detecting, at the mobile terminal, at least one of a parameter error and a missing parameter in the terminal configuration parameter settings for the network service;   responsive to detecting the at least the one of a parameter error and a missing parameter, transmitting a request to a server for at least one appropriate parameter for the terminal parameter settings for the network service;   receiving, at the mobile terminal, the at least one appropriate parameter for the terminal configuration parameter settings for the network service; and   storing the received at least one appropriate parameter for the terminal configuration parameter settings for the network service in the mobile terminal.   
     
     
         2 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the server comprises at least one of a device management server and a settings server. 
     
     
         3 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the network service comprises one of short messaging service (SMS) and multimedia messaging service (MMS). 
     
     
         4 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the request comprises a presence update request. 
     
     
         5 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein mobile terminal receives the network service over a wireless network. 
     
     
         6 . A mobile terminal for receiving a network service over a wireless network, the mobile terminal configured to:
 detect, at the mobile terminal, at least one of a parameter error and a missing parameter in the terminal configuration parameter settings for the network service;   responsive to detecting the at least the one of a parameter error and a missing parameter, transmit a request to a server for at least one appropriate parameter for the terminal parameter settings for the network service;   receive, at the mobile terminal, the at least one appropriate parameter for the terminal configuration parameter settings for the network service; and   store the received at least one appropriate parameter for the terminal configuration parameter settings for the network service in the mobile terminal.   
     
     
         7 . The mobile terminal of  claim 1 , wherein the server comprises at least one of a device management server and a settings server. 
     
     
         8 . The mobile terminal of  claim 1 , wherein the network service comprises one of short messaging service (SMS) and multimedia messaging service (MMS). 
     
     
         9 . The mobile terminal of  claim 1 , wherein the request comprises a presence update request. 
     
     
         10 . The me mobile terminal thod of  claim 1 , wherein mobile terminal receives the network service over a wireless network.
