Abstract

A surgical tack applier comprising a handle assembly, an inner tube, a plurality of fasteners and a solution is disclosed. The handle assembly includes an actuator associated therewith. The inner tube extends distally from the handle assembly and defines a longitudinal axis. The inner tube is rotatable about the longitudinal axis. The plurality of fasteners are disposed at least partially within the inner tube and are selectively ejectable therefrom. The solution is disposed within the inner tube and is dispensable through a distal opening of the inner tube.

Claims

1 . (canceled)

         2 . A surgical system comprising:
a surgical tack applier including a tube having a distal opening; a plurality of fasteners configured to be rotatably positioned within the tube and configured to be selectively ejected from the distal opening of the tube upon a rotation of the plurality of fasteners within the tube; and a solution, an entirety of the solution configured to be stored within the tube and configured to be dispensed from the distal opening of the tube.

3 . The surgical system according to claim 2 , wherein the distal opening of the tube is the only distal opening of the tube.

4 . The surgical system according to claim 2 , wherein the solution is selected from the group consisting of a paste and a porcine dermal collagen.

5 . The surgical system according to claim 2 , wherein the solution is disposed in a plurality of pouches.

6 . The surgical system according to claim 2 , wherein the solution is contained in an ampoule.

7 . The surgical system according to claim 6 , wherein the ampoule is disposed proximally of a proximal-most fastener of the plurality of fasteners.

8 . The surgical system according to claim 2 , wherein the surgical tack applier includes a coil disposed within the tube, each fastener of the plurality of fasteners is configured to rotatably engage the coil.

9 . The surgical system according to claim 2 , wherein the distal opening of the tube is aligned with a central longitudinal axis of the tube.

         10 . A surgical system comprising:
a surgical tack applier including a tube having a distal opening; a plurality of fasteners configured to be rotatably positioned within the tube and configured to be selectively ejected from the distal opening of the tube; and a solution disposed in a plurality of pouches and configured to be dispensed from the distal opening of the tube, wherein the plurality of pouches is interposed between the plurality of fasteners.

11 . The surgical system according to claim 10 , wherein the distal opening of the tube is the only distal opening of the tube.

12 . The surgical system according to claim 10 , wherein the solution is selected from the group consisting of a paste and a porcine dermal collagen.

13 . The surgical system according to claim 10 , wherein the surgical tack applier includes a coil disposed within the tube, each fastener of the plurality of fasteners is configured to rotatably engage the coil.

14 . The surgical system according to claim 10 , wherein the distal opening of the tube is aligned with a central longitudinal axis of the tube.

15 . The surgical system according to claim 10 , wherein each fastener of the plurality of fasteners is configured to be independently ejected from the distal opening of the tube.

         16 . A surgical system comprising:
a surgical tack applier including a tube having a distal opening; a plurality of fasteners configured to be rotatably positioned within the tube, each fastener of the plurality of fasteners configured to be independently ejected from the distal opening of the tube; and a solution disposed in an ampoule disposed within the tube.

17 . The surgical system according to claim 16 , wherein the ampoule is disposed proximally of a proximal-most fastener of the plurality of fasteners.

18 . The surgical system according to claim 16 , wherein the distal opening of the tube is the only distal opening of the tube.

19 . The surgical system according to claim 16 , wherein the solution is selected from the group consisting of a paste and a porcine dermal collagen.

20 . The surgical system according to claim 16 , wherein the surgical tack applier includes a coil disposed within the tube, each fastener of the plurality of fasteners is configured to rotatably engage the coil.

21 . The surgical system according to claim 16 , wherein the distal opening of the tube is aligned with a central longitudinal axis of the tube.
