Abstract
The present invention provides a composition comprising HMB. Methods of administering HMB to an animal are also described. HMB is administered to enhance or promote lipolysis, increase adipocyte fat oxidation, induce adipocyte and muscle mitochondrial biogenesis, increase energy expenditure, decrease total body weight and increase body fat loss.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A method of inducing fat loss by increasing intracellular lipolysis while enhancing lean mass in a human in need thereof comprising administering to the human a composition of from about 0.5 g to about 30 g of β-hydroxy-β-methylbutyric acid (HMB) thereby inducing fat loss by increasing intracellular lipolysis while enhancing lean mass.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein said HMB is selected from the group consisting of its free acid form, its salt, its ester, and its lactone.
3 . The method of claim 2 , wherein said salt is selected from the group consisting of a sodium salt, a potassium salt, a magnesium salt, a chromium salt and a calcium salt.
4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the method of inducing fat loss does not require the human to participate in an exercise program.
5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the method of inducing fat loss does not require the human to restrict calories.
6 . A method of improving body composition in a human in need thereof comprising administering to a the human a composition comprising of from about 0.5 g to about 30 g of β-hydroxy-β-methylbutyric acid (HMB), thereby improving body composition, wherein improving body composition further comprises enhancing lean body mass while decreasing fat mass by increasing intracellular lipolysis.
7 . The method of claim 6 , wherein said HMB is selected from the group consisting of its free acid form, its salt, its ester, and its lactone.
8 . The method of claim 7 , wherein said salt is selected from the group consisting of a sodium salt, a potassium salt, a magnesium salt, a chromium salt and a calcium salt.
9 . The method of claim 6 , wherein the method of improving body composition does not require the human to participate in an exercise program.
10 . The method of claim 6 , wherein the method of inducing fat loss does not require the human to restrict calories.
11 . A method of stimulating intracellular lipolysis that has a fat reduction effect in a human comprising administering to a the human a composition comprising of from about 0.5 g to about 30 g of β-hydroxy-β-methylbutyric acid (HMB) thereby stimulating intracellular lipolysis to have a fat reduction effect.
12 . The method of claim 11 , wherein said HMB is selected from the group consisting of its free acid form, its salt, its ester, and its lactone.
13 . The method of claim 11 , wherein said salt is selected from the group consisting of a sodium salt, a potassium salt, a magnesium salt, a chromium salt and a calcium salt.
14 . The method of claim 11 , wherein said salt is selected from the group consisting of a sodium salt, a potassium salt, a magnesium salt, a chromium salt and a calcium salt.
15 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the method of improving body composition does not require the human to participate in an exercise program.Cited by (0)
