Abstract
A system for monitoring electrical properties with lower power data acquisition.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A system for monitoring an electrical device comprising:
a sensor configured to receive data from the electrical device a processor configured to: compare the received data to an expected value, the expected value including an error band that accounts for expected variation in the data; determine to send the received data in response to determining that the received data is outside the error band based on the comparing; and send the received data.
2 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the process is further configured to determine not to send the received data in response to determining that the received data is within the error band.
3 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the processor is further configured to:
receive an updated error band; wherein the updated error band is based on data previously sent by the processor and presumed values based on data received by the sensor and not sent by the processor.
4 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the error band accounts for the ambient temperature proximate to the electrical device, the weather, the occupancy of a building in which the electrical device is located, the day of the week, the time of the day, and the season.
5 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the error band is based on an expected range of data from the electrical device.
6 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the sensor is configured to detect at least one of current and/or voltage from the electrical device.
7 . A computer-implemented method comprising:
receiving data from a sensor coupled to an electrical device; comparing the received data to an expected value, the expected value including an error band that accounts for expected variation in the data; determining to send the received data in response to determining that the received data is outside the error band based on the comparing; and sending the received data.
8 . The computer-implemented method of claim 7 , wherein the process is further configured to determine not to send the received data in response to determining that the received data is within the error band.
9 . The computer-implemented method of claim 7 , further comprising:
receiving an updated error band; wherein the updated error band is based on data previously sent by the processor and presumed values based on data received by the sensor and not sent by the processor.
10 . The computer-implemented method of claim 7 , wherein the error band accounts for the ambient temperature proximate to the electrical device, the weather, the occupancy of a building in which the electrical device is located, the day of the week, the time of the day, and the season.
11 . The computer-implemented method of claim 7 , wherein the error band is based on an expected range of data from the electrical device.
12 . The computer-implemented method of claim 7 , wherein the sensor is configured to detect at least one of current and/or voltage from the electrical device.
13 . A non-transitory computer readable medium storing instructions that when executed cause a processor to perform operations comprising:
receiving data from a sensor coupled to an electrical device; comparing the received data to an expected value, the expected value including an error band that accounts for expected variation in the data; determining to send the received data in response to determining that the received data is outside the error band based on the comparing; and sending the received data.
14 . The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 13 , wherein the process is further configured to determine not to send the received data in response to determining that the received data is within the error band.
15 . The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 13 , further comprising:
receiving an updated error band; wherein the updated error band is based on data previously sent by the processor and presumed values based on data received by the sensor and not sent by the processor.
16 . The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 13 , wherein the error band accounts for the ambient temperature proximate to the electrical device, the weather, the occupancy of a building in which the electrical device is located, the day of the week, the time of the day, and the season.
17 . The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 13 , wherein the error band is based on an expected range of data from the electrical device.
18 . The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 13 , wherein the sensor is configured to detect at least one of current and/or voltage from the electrical device.Cited by (0)
