Systems and methods to associate multimedia tags with user comments and generate user modifiable snippets around a tag time for efficient storage and sharing of tagged items
Abstract
Example methods and apparatus to add a tagged snippet of multimedia content to a playlist are disclosed. An example apparatus comprises an automatic content recognition search service to search a fingerprint database to find a match between query fingerprints for a snippet of multimedia content captured from a multimedia program at a timestamp and reference fingerprints of matching reference multimedia content stored in the fingerprint database, a tag service to generate a tag representing the snippet of multimedia content, wherein the tag, the timestamp, meta information associated with the matching reference multimedia content, and a monitored variable for a number of viewers of the snippet of multimedia content are stored in a database storage as a tagged snippet of multimedia content, and to add the tagged snippet of multimedia content to a playlist for an identified multimedia program if the number of viewers of the tagged snippet exceeds a threshold.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A method for tagging media content, the method comprising:
receiving, by a user device, a user command to tag a segment of a stream of media content; generating, by the user device, one or more fingerprints for the segment of the media content; determining, based on the one or more fingerprints, timing information for the segment in the media content; receiving, from a user, user-generated comment information; responsive to receiving the user-generated comment information, generating a tag comprising an association between the user-generated comment information and the timing information for the segment; and causing a remote server to store the tag comprising the user-generated comment information and the timing information associated with the user-generated comment information.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein generating the one or more fingerprints comprises capturing, using a microphone of the user device, an audio component of the media content.
3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein generating the one or more fingerprints comprises capturing, using a camera of the user device, a video component of the media content.
4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the user-generated comment information comprises a text comment.
5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the user-generated comment information comprises at least one comment selected from a group consisting of: an audio comment, a video content, and a photo comment.
6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein generating the tag further comprises associating user identification information with the timing information and the user-generated comment information.
7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein causing the remote server to store the tag comprises transmitting the timing information, the user-generated comment, and information identifying the media content to the remote server.
8 . The method of claim 7 , wherein transmitting the information identifying the media content comprises the one or more fingerprints.
9 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
generating, based on the tag, a snippet that comprises the segment of the media content; and storing, in a snippet storage database, the snippet in association with the user-generated comment.
10 . The method of claim 9 , further comprising:
displaying, by a display device of the user device, a playlist comprising the tag; receiving, by a user input device, a user input selecting the tag; and responsive to the user input selecting the tag, displaying the snippet and the user-generated comment information on the display device of the user device.
11 . The method of claim 1 further comprising:
matching the one or more fingerprints with one or more reference fingerprints stored in a fingerprint database;
responsive to matching the one or more fingerprints with the one or more reference fingerprints, retrieving metadata associated with the one or more reference fingerprints; and
storing the tag in association with the metadata.
12 . The method of claim 1 further comprising: sharing the tag with users in a user group specified in sharing primitives stored with the tag.
13 . A non-transitory machine-readable storage medium having stored thereon, program instructions that when executed by a processor of a machine, cause the machine to perform operations comprising:
receiving a user command to tag a segment of a stream of media content; generating one or more fingerprints for the segment of the media content; determining, based on the one or more fingerprints, timing information for the segment in the media content; receiving, from a user, user-generated comment information; responsive to receiving the user-generated comment information, generating a tag comprising an association between the user-generated comment information and the timing information for the segment; and causing a remote server to store the tag comprising the user-generated comment information and the timing information associated with the user-generated comment information.
14 . The non-transitory machine-readable storage medium of claim 13 , wherein generating the one or more fingerprints comprises causing a microphone to capture an audio component of the media content.
15 . The non-transitory machine-readable storage medium of claim 13 , wherein generating the one or more fingerprints comprises causing a camera to capture a video component of the media content.
16 . The non-transitory machine-readable storage medium of claim 13 , wherein the user-generated comment information comprises a text comment.
17 . The non-transitory machine-readable storage medium of claim 13 , wherein generating the tag further comprises associating user identification information with the timing information and the user-generated comment information.
18 . The non-transitory machine-readable storage medium of claim 13 , wherein causing the remote server to store the tag comprises transmitting the timing information, the user-generated comment, and information identifying the media content to the remote server.
19 . The non-transitory machine-readable storage medium of claim 13 , further comprising:
generating, based on the tag, a snippet that comprises the segment of the media content; and storing, in a snippet storage database, the snippet in association with the user-generated comment.
20 . The non-transitory machine-readable storage medium of claim 13 , further comprising: sharing the tag with users in a user group specified in sharing primitives stored with the tag.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
