Catheter tray, packaging system, and associated methods
Abstract
A tray (100) for accommodating a coiled medical device, such as a catheter assembly (700), includes a first compartment (101), a second compartment (102), and a third compartment (103). The catheter assembly (700) and devices associated with a catheterization procedure, such as syringes (701,702) containing sterile water and lubricating jelly and a specimen container (703) can be disposed within the tray. Printed instructions (1001) can be included with the tray (100). When a CSR wrap (1000) is disposed about the tray (100), the printed instructions can be placed atop the CSR wrap (1000) but beneath an outer sterile wrap (1002). The printed instructions (1001) can include a patient portion (1202) that is detachably coupled to a health care services portion (1201) such that it can be taken home with the patient after the procedure.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A catheterization kit, comprising:
a single level tray defining a first compartment and a second compartment, the second compartment bounded by at least a portion of a perimeter wall and a base member; a first container disposed in the first compartment of the single level tray, the first container containing an inflation fluid; a second container disposed in the first compartment of the single level tray, the second container containing a lubricating jelly, the second container configured to be manipulated to discharge the lubricating jelly from the second container into the first compartment; and a catheter assembly disposed within the second compartment of the single level tray, the catheter assembly including a Foley catheter, a fluid receptacle, and a tube coupling the Foley catheter to the fluid receptacle, the Foley catheter, the tube, and the fluid receptacle positioned within the second compartment such that the fluid receptacle is between the base member and the Foley catheter.
2 . The catheterization kit of claim 1 , wherein the single level tray includes a barrier that forms a boundary of the first compartment, the barrier defining an opening sized to receive a portion of the Foley catheter when a tip of the Foley catheter is passed from the second compartment into the first compartment to lubricate the tip of the Foley catheter when the lubricating jelly has been discharged from the second container into the first compartment.
3 . The catheterization kit of claim 2 , wherein the barrier separates the first compartment from the second compartment and extends a length of the first compartment.
4 . The catheterization kit of claim 1 , wherein the single level tray includes a protrusion configured to limit movement of at least one of the first container or the second container within the single level tray.
5 . The catheterization kit of claim 1 , wherein the second container is a syringe.
6 . The catheterization kit of claim 1 , wherein:
the inflation fluid is sterile water; and the first container is a syringe configured to be connected to the Foley catheter such that the sterile water can be conveyed to inflate a balloon of the Foley catheter.
7 . The catheterization kit of claim 1 , wherein the tube is attached to the fluid receptacle via an anti-reflux device.
8 . The catheterization kit of claim 1 , wherein the single level tray defines a top opening through which the first compartment and the second compartment can be accessed, the catheterization kit further comprising:
a wrap folded about the single level tray to cover the top opening, the wrap configured to be unfolded to A) reveal the first compartment and the second compartment and B) provide a sterile field to accommodate the single level tray during use.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
