Abstract

A substantially surface active agent-free and foam adjuvant-free composition which includes a hydrophobic solvent, a wax and a propellant. A substantially surface active agent-free and foam adjuvant-free composition, further comprising, a tetracycline antibiotic, or one or more other active agents. A method of treatment, using a substantially surface active agent-free and substantially foam adjuvant-free composition.

         28 . A composition comprising a tetracycline and a carrier, wherein the carrier comprises:
 a liquid oil; and   a gelled mineral oil;   wherein the tetracycline is suspended or partially suspended in the composition;   wherein the liquid oil is present at a concentration of up to about 95% by weight of the carrier;   and wherein the composition is substantially surfactant-free.   
     
     
         29 . The composition of  claim 28 , wherein the liquid oil is present at a concentration of about 35% to about 95% by weight of the carrier. 
     
     
         30 . The composition of  claim 28 , wherein the composition is substantially free of water, a short chain alcohol, a polyol, a fatty alcohol, and a fatty acid. 
     
     
         31 . The composition of  claim 28 , wherein the gelled mineral oil comprises a heavy mineral oil and/or a light mineral oil. 
     
     
         32 . The composition of  claim 28 , wherein the composition comprises a polymeric gelling agent. 
     
     
         33 . The composition of  claim 32 , wherein the polymeric gelling agent is present at a concentration of about 5% by weight of the composition. 
     
     
         34 . The composition of  claim 32 , wherein the polymeric gelling agent is oil-soluble. 
     
     
         35 . The composition of  claim 28 , wherein the liquid oil comprises a heavy mineral oil, a light mineral oil, or a mixture thereof.

         37 . The composition of  claim 36 , wherein the tetracycline comprises a minocycline, a doxycycline, a salt thereof, or a mixture thereof.

         45 . The composition of  claim 28 , wherein the tetracycline is a minocycline or a salt thereof, present at a concentration of about 1% to about 4% by weight of the composition.

         51 . A method of treating a dermatological disorder in a subject, comprising applying to a target area of the subject a therapeutically effective amount of the composition of  claim 28 . 
     
     
         52 . The method of  claim 51 , wherein the disorder is acne. 
     
     
         53 . The method of  claim 51 , wherein the disorder is rosacea. 
     
     
         54 . The method of  claim 51 , wherein the disorder is impetigo.
