Multiparticulate formulations of cannabinoids

Abstract

Compositions for the immediate release, extended release, or sustained release of two or more active agents, in which the two or more active agents comprises at least one cannabinoid and at least one non-cannabinoid therapeutic agent. The compositions comprise a population of particles, in which each particles comprises the at least one cannabinoid, the at least one non-cannabinoid therapeutic agent, or a combination thereof.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A composition for immediate release of two or more active agents, wherein the two or more active agents comprise at least one cannabinoid and at least one non-cannabinoid therapeutic agent,
 the composition comprising a population of particles, wherein each particle comprises:
 (a) the at least one cannabinoid, the at least one non-cannabinoid therapeutic agent, or a combination thereof; 
 (b) a porous bead core; 
   wherein the composition releases at least about 30% of the two or more actives over a period of about 30 minutes or less.   
     
     
         2 . The composition of  claim 1 , wherein the porous bead core comprises a silica bead or porous biodegradable glass bead. 
     
     
         3 . A composition for sustained release of two or more active agents, wherein the two or more active agents comprise at least one cannabinoid and at least one non-cannabinoid therapeutic agent,
 the composition comprising a combination of:   (a) particles of the composition of  claim 1 ; and   (b) particles of an extended release composition of two or more active agents, wherein the two or more active agents of the extended release composition comprise at least one cannabinoid and at least one non-cannabinoid therapeutic agent, each particle of the extended release composition comprising:
 (i) the at least one cannabinoid, the at least one non-cannabinoid therapeutic agent, or a combination thereof; 
 (ii) one or more drug releasing agents comprising one or more lipid-based gel-forming agents; 
 (iii) a core; and 
 (iv) one or more surfactants; 
   wherein the extended release composition releases the two or more actives over a period of at least 6 hours.   
     
     
         4 . A composition for sustained release of two or more active agents, wherein the two or more active agents comprise at least one cannabinoid and at least one non-cannabinoid therapeutic agent,
 the composition comprising a combination of:   (a) particles of the composition of  claim 1 ; and   (b) particles of an extended release composition of two or more active agents, wherein the two or more active agents of the extended release composition comprise at least one cannabinoid and at least one non-cannabinoid therapeutic agent, each particle of the extended release composition comprising:
 (i) the at least one cannabinoid, the at least one non-cannabinoid therapeutic agent, or a combination thereof; 
 (ii) one or more drug releasing agents comprising one or more release-controlling polymers, one or more release-accelerating polymers, or a combination thereof; and 
 (iii) a core; 
   wherein the extended release composition releases the two or more actives over a period of at least 6 hours.
