Abstract
This disclosure relates generally to eyewear apparatus that includes a frame configured to fit on the front of a wearer's face, in front of the eye area and over the bridge of the wearer's nose; and a first arm and a second arm that are configured to fit over the user's ears, in which each arm connects to the frame at a proximal point that is adjacent to the user's temple; in which at least one arm comprises a utility portion.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
. An eyewear apparatus comprising:
a frame formed of a boundary member configured to fit on the front of a wearer's face and having two circumferential portions, each circumferential portion positioned in front of an eye area of a wearer and being configured to retain a lens, the circumferential portions being coupled together by a bridge element adapted to fit over the bridge of the wearer's nose; and a first and a second extended arm member, each extended arm member being composed of a surface component bounding a cavity and having a proximal portion and a distal portion, each proximal portion of the extended arm being movingly coupled to a respective circumferential portion at a position adjacent to the wearer's temple, and each distal portion of the extended arm being configured to fit over the wearer's ear, the cavity of at least one arm comprising a utility portion, the utility portion including an electronic module having an electronic chip, a memory device, a rechargeable power source, a sensor unit, and a communications unit.
. The eyewear apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the sensor unit comprises one or more of a chemical sensor, a light sensor, an optical sensor, a haptic sensor, sound sensor, a Geiger counter, and an environmental sensor.
. The eyewear apparatus according to claim 2 , wherein the sensor comprises a chemical sensor.
. The eyewear apparatus according to claim 3 , wherein the chemical sensor comprises a chemical detector.
. The eyewear apparatus according to claim 4 , wherein the chemical detector comprises a liquid or gaseous toxin detector.
. The eyewear apparatus according to claim 4 , wherein the chemical detector comprises a poison detector.
. The eyewear apparatus according to claim 4 , wherein the chemical detector comprises an ingestible liquid detector.
. The eyewear apparatus according to claim 7 , wherein the ingestible liquid detector comprises an alcohol detector, the alcohol detector being configured for determining a blood alcohol content.
. The eyewear apparatus according to claim 2 , wherein the sensor comprises an optical sensor.
. The eyewear apparatus according to claim 3 , wherein the optical sensor comprises a camera, a light sensor, a laser, and a UV exposure sensor.
. The eyewear apparatus according to claim 10 , wherein the optical sensor comprises a light sensor, the light sensor being configured for detecting one or more of an infrared (IR) light, ambient light, and ultraviolet (UV) light.
. The eyewear apparatus according to claim 11 , wherein the electronic module further comprises a light emitter, the light emitter being configured for emitting a light when a light sensor is exposed to a determined level of IR or UV light exposure.
. The eyewear apparatus according to claim 2 , wherein the environmental sensor comprises a temperature sensor.
. The eyewear apparatus according to claim 2 , wherein one of the first and second extended arm members comprises a port for connection with a handheld device for one or more of data transmission and viewing sensor data.
. The eyewear apparatus according to claim 2 , wherein one of the first and second extended arm members comprises a port for connection with an energy source for recharging the rechargeable power source.
. The eyewear apparatus according to claim 2 , wherein the communications module includes one or more of a Bluetooth or near field communications transmitter for wireless transmission of generated sensor data.
. The eyewear apparatus according to claim 2 , wherein the electronic module further comprises an electrical signal emitting device.
. The eyewear apparatus according to claim 17 , wherein the electrical signal emitting device is configured for controlling a third party device.
. The eyewear apparatus according to claim 18 , wherein the third party device comprises a door, a mobile phone, and a car.
. The eyewear apparatus according to claim 17 , wherein the electrical signal emitting device comprises a near field communications or an RFID transmitter.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
