Low lint tissue and towel products and process for making the same

Abstract

A method of making a tissue or paper towel product including forming two or more multi-layered webs of cellulosic fibers by a papermaking process using a structured fabric, the papermaking process comprising a step of adding a cross-linker to a pulp slurry comprising the cellulosic fibers so that at least some of the cellulosic fibers are cross-linked within the pulp slurry, and laminating the two or more multi-layered webs together so as to form a multi-ply product, each ply of the multi-ply product comprising cross-linked fibers as a percentage of the total fiber mix of the ply.

1 . A low lint roll bath tissue comprising:
 a laminate of at least two plies of a multi-layer through air dried tissue, the tissue comprising cellulosic fibers and micro-fibrillated cellulose, wherein at least some of the cellulosic fibers are cross-linked with one another and with the micro-fibrillated cellulose.   
     
     
         2 . The low lint roll bath tissue of  claim 1 , wherein the tissue comprises less than 50 weight % of the cross-linked cellulosic fibers. 
     
     
         3 . The low lint roll bath tissue of  claim 2 , wherein the tissue further comprises a chemical strength agent at from 0.5 weight % to 10 weight % total of a bone dry web. 
     
     
         4 . The low lint roll bath tissue of  claim 3 , wherein the tissue has a lint score less than 3. 
     
     
         5 . The low lint roll bath tissue of  claim 3 , wherein the tissue has a lint score of less than 2. 
     
     
         6 . The low lint roll bath tissue of  claim 3 , wherein the tissue has a Ball Burst of greater than 200 grams force. 
     
     
         7 . The low lint roll bath tissue of  claim 6 , wherein the tissue has a machine direction tensile strength of greater than 100 N/m. 
     
     
         8 . The low lint roll bath tissue of  claim 7 , wherein the tissue has a cross direction tensile strength of greater than 60 N/m. 
     
     
         9 . A low lint roll bath tissue comprising:
 a laminate of at least two plies of a multi-layer through air dried tissue, the tissue comprising cellulosic fibers, wherein at least some of the cellulosic fibers are cross-linked with one another.   
     
     
         10 . The low lint roll bath tissue of  claim 9 , wherein the tissue comprises less than 50 weight % of the cross-linked cellulosic fibers. 
     
     
         11 . The low lint roll bath tissue of  claim 10 , wherein the tissue further comprises a chemical strength agent at from 0.5 weight % to 10 weight % total of a bone dry web. 
     
     
         12 . The low lint roll bath tissue of  claim 11 , wherein the tissue has a lint score less than 3. 
     
     
         13 . The low lint roll bath tissue of  claim 11 , wherein the tissue has a lint score of less than 2. 
     
     
         14 . The low lint roll bath tissue of  claim 11 , wherein the tissue has a Ball Burst of greater than 200 grams force. 
     
     
         15 . The low lint roll bath tissue of  claim 14 , wherein the tissue has a machine direction tensile strength of greater than 100 N/m. 
     
     
         16 . The low lint roll bath tissue of  claim 15 , wherein the tissue has a cross direction tensile strength of greater than 60 N/m.
