Abstract
An implant for filling a bore hole in a bone includes: a biocompatible plate having upper and lower surfaces; and a support frame having a central portion located at least partially within the plate, an outer rim having a plurality of fastening points adapted for attaching the implant to bone surrounding a bore hole in which the plate is inserted, and a plurality of arms extending between the central portion and the outer rim.

1 . An implant for filling a bore hole in a bone comprising:
(a) a biocompatible plate having upper and lower surfaces; and (b) a support frame having
a central portion located at least partially within said plate,
an outer rim having a plurality of fastening points adapted for attaching the implant to bone surrounding a bore hole in which the plate is inserted, and
a plurality of arms extending between said central portion and said outer rim wherein said plurality of arms extend inwardly and downwardly away from said outer rim such that said central portion is located below the plane of said outer rim.
2 . The implant of claim 1 , wherein said central portion comprises an inner ring, and said plurality of arms connect said inner ring to said outer rim.
3 . The implant of claim 2 , wherein said central portion further comprises a plurality of inner support members located within the plate and extending inward from said inner ring.
4 . The implant of claim 3 , wherein said fastening points comprise retention eyelets adapted to receive fasteners therethrough.
5 . The implant of claim 1 , wherein said outer rim extends about the entire periphery of the biocompatible plate.
6 . The implant of claim 5 , wherein said outer rim comprises a polygonal ring, with said plate centrally located therein.
7 . The implant of claim 6 , wherein said outer rim comprises a hexagonal or pentagonal ring.
8 . The implant of claim 6 , wherein said polygonal ring has a plurality of apexes, and said retention eyelets are located at the apexes of the polygonal ring.
9 . The implant of claim 6 , wherein said fastening points comprise retention eyelets adapted to receive fasteners therethrough.
10 . The implant of claim 9 , wherein said biocompatible plate is circular in cross-section and has a longitudinal axis centrally located with respect to said outer rim.
11 . The implant of claim 5 , wherein said biocompatible plate is a tapered cylinder, with said upper surface larger than said lower surface of the plate.
12 . The implant of claim 5 , wherein said central portion comprises an inner ring, and said plurality of arms connect said inner ring to said outer rim.
13 . The implant of claim 2 , wherein said fastening points comprise retention eyelets adapted to receive fasteners therethrough.
14 . The implant of claim 13 , wherein said central portion further comprises a plurality of inner support members located within the plate and extending radially inward from said inner ring.
15 . The implant of claim 1 , further comprising at least one deformation zone associated with each of said plurality of arms extending between said central portion and said outer rim.
16 . The implant of claim 15 , wherein said deformation zones comprise a reduced width region on said outer rim adjacent the associated deformable arm.
17 . The implant of claim 1 , wherein said biocompatible plate comprises a hydraulic cement composition.
18 . An implant for filling a bore hole in a bone comprising:
(a) a biocompatible plate having upper and lower surfaces; and (b) a support frame having
a central portion comprising an inner ring located at least partially within said plate,
an outer rim extending about the entire periphery of the central portion, said outer rim having a plurality of retention eyelets adapted to receive fasteners therethrough for attaching the implant to bone surrounding a bore hole in which the plate is inserted; and
a plurality of arms extending between said inner ring and said outer rim wherein said outer rim comprises a circular or polygonal ring having a longitudinal axis, with said central portion centrally located therein.
19 . The implant of claim 18 , wherein said plurality of arms extend inwardly and downwardly away from said outer rim such that said central portion is located below the plane of said outer rim.
20 . The implant of claim 18 , wherein said central portion further comprises a plurality of inner support members located within the plate and extending inward from said inner ring.Cited by (0)
