Abstract

The present invention is directed to methods of administering a probiotic composition including Bacillus subtilis, Bacillus licheniformis, and Pediococcus acidilactici to dogs to decrease endotoxemia and improve the digestive process, and related methods.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A method of decreasing endotoxemia in a dog comprising the steps of:
 a. providing a probiotic composition comprising Bacillus subtilis, Bacillus licheniformis , and Pediococcus acidilactici , and b. administering the probiotic composition to the dog in an amount effective to decrease endotoxemia in the dog.

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein said Bacillus subtilis is Bacillus subtilis HU58 and/or said Bacillus licheniformis is Bacillus licheniformis SL-307.

3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein said Bacillus subtilis, Bacillus licheniformis , and Pediococcus acidilactici total about 1 billion to about 10 billion CFU.

4 . The method of claim 3 , wherein said CFU total is about 2.5 billion to about 5 billion CFU.

5 . The method of claim 3 , wherein said CFU total is about 2 billion CFUs Bacillus subtilis HU58, about 500 million to 1 billion CFUs Pediococcus acidilactici , and about 100 million CFUs of Bacillus licheniformis.

6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein said probiotic composition is orally administered to the dog.

7 . The method of claim 4 , wherein said oral administration is for at least 30 days.

8 . The method of claim 1 , wherein said dog is a healthy dog.

9 . The method of claim 1 , wherein said dog has a disorder of the gastrointestinal tract.

10 . A method of improving digestion in the gastrointestinal tract of a dog comprising the steps of:
 a. providing a probiotic composition comprising Bacillus subtilis, Bacillus licheniformis , and Pediococcus acidilactici , and b. administering the probiotic composition to the dog in an amount effective to improve the digestive process in gastrointestinal tract of the dog.

11 . The method of claim 10 , wherein said Bacillus subtilis is Bacillus subtilis HU58 and/or said Bacillus licheniformis is Bacillus licheniformis SL-307.

12 . The method of claim 10 , wherein said Bacillus subtilis, Bacillus licheniformis , and Pediococcus acidilactici total about 1 billion to about 10 billion CFU.

13 . The method of claim 12 , wherein said CFU total is about 2.5 billion to about 5 billion CFU.

14 . The method of claim 12 , wherein said CFU total is about 2 billion CFUs Bacillus subtilis HU58, about 500 million to 1 billion CFUs Pediococcus acidilactici , and about 100 million CFUs of Bacillus licheniformis.

15 . The method of claim 12 , wherein said probiotic composition is orally administered to the dog.

16 . The method of claim 15 , wherein said oral administration is for at least 30 days.

17 . The method of claim 1 , wherein said dog is a healthy dog.

18 . The method of claim 1 , wherein said dog has a disorder of the gastrointestinal tract.

19 . A method of treating a digestive disorder in a dog comprising the steps of:
 a. providing a probiotic composition comprising Bacillus subtilis, Bacillus licheniformis , and Pediococcus acidilactici , and b. administering the probiotic composition to the dog in an amount effective to decrease or eliminate a digestive disorder symptom in the dog.

20 . The method of claim 19 , wherein said Bacillus subtilis is Bacillus subtilis HU58 and/or said Bacillus licheniformis is Bacillus licheniformis SL-307.

21 . The method of claim 19 , wherein said Bacillus subtilis, Bacillus licheniformis , and Pediococcus acidilactici total about 1 billion to about 10 billion CFU.

22 . The method of claim 21 , wherein said CFU total is about 2.5 billion to about 5 billion CFU.

23 . The method of claim 21 , wherein said CFU total is about 2 billion CFUs Bacillus subtilis HU58, about 500 million to 1 billion CFUs Pediococcus acidilactici , and about 100 million CFUs of Bacillus licheniformis.

24 . The method of claim 19 , wherein said probiotic composition is orally administered to the dog.

25 . The method of claim 22 , wherein said oral administration is for at least 30 days.
