Abstract
A topical nerve stimulator patch and system are provided including a dermal patch; an electrical signal generator associated with the patch; a signal receiver to activate the electrical signal generator; a power source for the electrical signal generator associated with the patch; an electrical signal activation device; and a nerve feedback sensor.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A method of medical treatment of a user, the method comprising:
applying an electronic patch externally to the user at a location proximate to a nerve to be stimulated, the electronic patch comprising a plurality of electrodes, a processor, a sensor and a communications module in communication with a remote controller; applying a first electrical stimulation via the electrodes as the medical treatment, the first electrical stimulation comprising a plurality of first stimulation parameters; revising the first stimulation parameter to generate a second electrical stimulation, the revising based at least on a first level of information comprising nerve actions in response to the first electrical stimulation sensed by the sensor, a second level of information received from the remote controller, and a third level of information received from a remote network of information; and applying the second electrical stimulation via the electrodes as the medical treatment, the second electrical stimulation comprising a plurality of second stimulation parameters.
2 . The method of claim 1 , the electronic patch comprising a flexible substrate comprising adhesive on a first side adapted to adhere to a dermis of the user;
the plurality of electrodes, the processor, the sensor and the communications module directly coupled to the flexible substrate.
3 . The method of claim 1 , the first stimulation parameters and the second stimulation parameters each comprising voltage-regulated square waves.
4 . The method of claim 3 , the voltage-regulated square waves having frequencies between 15 Hz and 50 Hz, and having currents between 20 mA and 100 mA.
5 . The method of claim 1 , the second level of information comprising user commands via the remote controller, the remote controller comprising a smartphone.
6 . The method of claim 1 , the third level of information received via the remote controller and the remote network of information comprising information from other users of an electronic patch and third parties, the information generated using data analysis.
7 . The method of claim 1 , the medical treatment comprising activating the nerve to inhibit an overactive bladder.
8 . The method of claim 1 , the plurality of first stimulation parameters comprising a pattern of stimulation, sensing and analyzing, the plurality of second stimulation parameters comprising revising the pattern.
9 . A medical treatment system comprising:
an electronic patch adapted to be applied externally to a user at a location proximate to a nerve to be stimulated, the electronic patch comprising a plurality of electrodes, a processor, a sensor and a communications module; a remote controller adapted to communicate with the communications module; a first level of information, a second level of information and a third level of information adapted to be processed by the processor; the electronic patch adapted to apply a first electrical stimulation via the electrodes as the medical treatment, the first electrical stimulation comprising a plurality of first stimulation parameters; the electronic patch adapted to revise the first stimulation parameter to generate a second electrical stimulation, the revising based at least on the first level of information comprising nerve actions in response to the first electrical stimulation sensed by the sensor, the second level of information received from the remote controller, and the third level of information received from a remote network of information; and the electronic patch adapted to apply the second electrical stimulation via the electrodes as the medical treatment, the second electrical stimulation comprising a plurality of second stimulation parameters.
10 . The system of claim 9 , the electronic patch comprising a flexible substrate comprising adhesive on a first side adapted to adhere to a dermis of the user;
the plurality of electrodes, the processor, the sensor and the communications module directly coupled to the flexible substrate.
11 . The system of claim 9 , the first stimulation parameters and the second stimulation parameters each comprising voltage-regulated square waves.
12 . The system of claim 11 , the voltage-regulated square waves having frequencies between 15 Hz and 50 Hz, and having currents between 20 mA and 100 mA.
13 . The system of claim 9 , the second level of information comprising user commands via the remote controller, the remote controller comprising a smartphone.
14 . The system of claim 9 , the third level of information received via the remote controller and the remote network of information comprising information from other users of an electronic patch and third parties, the information generated using data analysis.
15 . The system of claim 9 , the medical treatment comprising activating the nerve to inhibit an overactive bladder.
16 . The system of claim 9 , the plurality of first stimulation parameters comprising a pattern of stimulation, sensing and analyzing, the plurality of second stimulation parameters comprising revising the pattern.
17 . A computer-readable medium having instructions stored thereon that, when executed by a processor, cause the processor to provide a medical treatment to a user via an electronic patch applied externally to the user at a location proximate to a nerve to be stimulated, the electronic patch comprising a plurality of electrodes, the processor, a sensor and a communications module in communication with a remote controller, the medical treatment comprising:
applying a first electrical stimulation via the electrodes as the medical treatment, the first electrical stimulation comprising a plurality of first stimulation parameters; revising the first stimulation parameter to generate a second electrical stimulation, the revising based at least on a first level of information comprising nerve actions in response to the first electrical stimulation sensed by the sensor, a second level of information received from the remote controller, and a third level of information received from a remote network of information; and applying the second electrical stimulation via the electrodes as the medical treatment, the second electrical stimulation comprising a plurality of second stimulation parameters.
