Integrated medicament delivery device for use with continuous analyte sensor
Abstract
An integrated system for the monitoring and treating diabetes is provided, including an integrated receiver/hand-held medicament injection pen, including electronics, for use with a continuous glucose sensor. In some embodiments, the receiver is configured to receive continuous glucose sensor data, to calculate a medicament therapy (e.g., via the integrated system electronics) and to automatically set a bolus dose of the integrated hand-held medicament injection pen, whereby the user can manually inject the bolus dose of medicament into the host. In some embodiments, the integrated receiver and hand-held medicament injection pen are integrally formed, while in other embodiments they are detachably connected and communicated via mutually engaging electrical contacts and/or via wireless communication.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A method for monitoring and treating diabetes, comprising:
administering an amount of a medicament into a host; receiving and processing sensor data from a continuous glucose sensor, wherein the sensor data is indicative of a glucose concentration of the host in vivo; and inputting host information to a user interface, outputting the sensor data on the user interface, or outputting medicament therapy on the user interface.
2 . The method of claim 1 wherein the administering is selected from the group consisting of injecting, infusing, causing inhalation or transdermal absorption of the amount of medicament into the host.
3 . The method of claim 1 further comprising calculating at least one of a time of medicament therapy and an amount of medicament therapy.
4 . The method of claim 1 further comprising displaying a graphical representation of at least one of sensor data and medicament delivery data, wherein a solid line represents at least one of a target glucose concentration and a range.
5 . The method of claim 1 wherein the administering is performed by a medicament injection pen or a medicament pump.
6 . The method of claim 1 wherein the administering is performed by a medicament injection pen and further comprising remotely controlling a rate of medicament injection by the medicament injection pen into the host.
7 . The method of claim 1 further comprising requiring validation prior to administering the amount of the medicament into the host.
8 . The method of claim 1 wherein processing the sensor data includes processing the sensor data and generating the medicament therapy.
9 . A method for monitoring and treating diabetes, comprising:
administering an amount of a medicament into a host; receiving and processing sensor data from a continuous glucose sensor, wherein the sensor data is indicative of a glucose concentration of the host in vivo; and requiring validation prior to administering the amount of the medicament into the host.
10 . The method of claim 9 further comprising inputting host information to a user interface, outputting the sensor data on the user interface, or outputting medicament therapy on the user interface.
11 . The method of claim 9 wherein the administering is selected from the group consisting of injecting, infusing, causing inhalation or transdermal absorption of the amount of medicament into the host.
12 . The method of claim 9 further comprising calculating at least one of a time of medicament therapy and an amount of medicament therapy.
13 . The method of claim 9 further comprising displaying a graphical representation of at least one of sensor data and medicament delivery data, wherein a solid line represents at least one of a target glucose concentration and a range.
14 . The method of claim 9 wherein the administering is performed by a medicament injection pen or a medicament pump.
15 . The method of claim 9 wherein the administering is performed by a medicament injection pen and further comprising remotely controlling a rate of medicament injection by the medicament injection pen into the host.
16 . The method of claim 10 wherein processing the sensor data includes processing the sensor data and generating the medicament therapy.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
