Abstract
The disclosed securement device for medical tubing has a polymeric film and adhesive. The polymer film has a first major surface, a second major surface opposite the first major surface, a first flat portion, a second flat portion, a formed bend between the first flat portion and second flat portion, the bend defining a channel, and a notch formed through the polymer film adjacent the bend and between the first flat portion and second flat portion, such that the notch is aligned with the channel. Then adhesive is on at least a portion of the second major surface of the polymer film.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A securement device for medical tubing comprising:
a polymer film comprising:
a first major surface,
a second major surface opposite the first major surface,
a first flat portion,
a second flat portion,
a formed bend between the first flat portion and second flat portion, the bend defining a channel, and
a notch formed through the polymer film adjacent the bend and between the first flat portion and second flat portion, such that the notch is aligned with the channel; and
an adhesive on at least a portion of the second major surface of the polymer film.
2 . The securement device of claim 1 , wherein the formed bend conforms over at least a portion of the medical tubing.
3 . The securement device of claim 1 , wherein the formed bend is a pre-dimensioned to receive at least a portion of the medical tubing.
4 . The securement device of claim 1 , wherein the first flat portion and second flat portion are in a common plane wherein the formed bend extends in an arch shape from the common plane.
5 . The securement device of claim 1 , wherein the first flat portion is separated from the second flat portion in part by the formed bend and in part by the notch.
6 . The securement device of claim 1 , wherein the first major surface of the polymer film includes a surface modification.
7 . The securement device of claim 1 , wherein the polymer film comprises:
a thickness of at least 0.1 mm, a glass transition temperature, Tg, of at least 15° C. and no greater than 45° C., a tan δ max of at least 0.4, and a tensile storage modulus E′ of at least 10 MPa at 30° C., 1 Hz when tested according to Dynamic Mechanical Analysis.
8 . The securement device of claim 1 , wherein the polymer film comprises a polymer selected from the group consisting of a polyurethane, a polyvinyl chloride, an acrylic, a polyester, a polyamide, and combinations thereof.
9 . The securement device of claim 1 , wherein the polymer film has a thickness of at least about 0.3 mm.
10 . The securement device of claim 1 , wherein the polymer film has a glass transition temperature, Tg, is at least 20° C.
11 . The securement device of claim 1 , wherein the polymer film the tan δ max is no greater than 2.0.
12 . The securement device of claim 1 , wherein the tensile storage modulus E′ is at most 2000 MPa at 30° C., 1 Hz when tested according to Dynamic Mechanical Analysis.
13 . The securement device of claim 1 , wherein the second major surface at the first flat portion and the second flat portion comprises the adhesive.
14 . The securement device of claim 1 , wherein the second major surface at the formed bend comprises the adhesive.
15 . The securement device of claim 1 , wherein the second major surface at the formed bend comprises the adhesive and the second major surface at the first flat portion and second flat portion comprises a second adhesive.
16 . The securement device of claim 1 , further comprising:
a base layer comprising:
a first major surface and a second major surface opposite the first major surface;
a skin-contact adhesive on at least a portion of the first major surface of the base layer;
wherein the adhesive on the second major surface of the polymer film is adhered to a first major surface of the base layer.
17 . The securement device of claim 16 , wherein the medical tubing is adjacent the first major surface of the base layer and the second major surface of the polymeric film within the formed bend.
18 . The securement device of claim 1 , wherein the medical tubing is secured within the formed bend and the securement device has a peak load of at least 15N when tested according to Adhesive Test Method.Cited by (0)
