Abstract
Dermal delivery compositions are provided. Aspects of the dermal delivery compositions include the presence of active agent-calcium phosphate particle complexes, where these complexes include uniform, rigid, spherical nanoporous calcium phosphate particles associated with one or more active agents. Also provided are methods of using the compositions in active agent delivery applications.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 - 18 . (canceled)
19 . A method of treating skin of a subject, the method comprising:
applying to a skin location of a subject a topical composition comprising: uniform, rigid, spherical nanoporous calcium phosphate particles; a preservative; an antimicrobial agent; and a topical delivery vehicle; to treat skin of the subject.
20 . The method according to claim 19 , wherein the preservative comprises a benzyl group.
21 . The method according to claim 20 , wherein the preservative is selected from the group consisting of: benzyl alcohol, benzylhemiformal, benzylparaben, phenoxyethanol, sodium benzoate, and combinations thereof.
22 . method according to claim 19 , wherein the calcium phosphate particles are produced by:
preparing a fluid composition of calcium phosphate crystals; spray drying the fluid composition to produce precursor particles; and subjecting the precursor particles to an elevated temperature ranging from 300° C. to 800° C. for a period of time ranging from 1 hour to 10 hours to produce uniform, rigid, spherical nanoporous calcium phosphate particles.
23 . The method according to claim 19 , wherein the topical delivery vehicle is a lotion delivery vehicle.
24 . The method according to claim 19 , wherein antimicrobial agent is an antibacterial agent.
25 . The method according to claim 19 , wherein the antimicrobial agent is an antifungal agent.
26 . The method according to claim 19 , wherein the subject is a mammal.
27 . The method according to claim 26 , wherein the mammal is a human.
28 . A method of treating skin of a subject, the method comprising:
applying to a skin location of a subject a topical composition comprising: uniform, rigid, spherical nanoporous calcium phosphate particles; a quaternary ammonium compound; an antimicrobial agent; and a topical delivery vehicle; to treat skin of the subject.
29 . The method according to claim 28 , wherein the a quaternary ammonium compound comprises a benzyl group.
30 . method according to claim 28 , wherein the calcium phosphate particles are produced by:
preparing a fluid composition of calcium phosphate crystals; spray drying the fluid composition to produce precursor particles; and subjecting the precursor particles to an elevated temperature ranging from 300° C. to 800° C. for a period of time ranging from 1 hour to 10 hours to produce uniform, rigid, spherical nanoporous calcium phosphate particles.
31 . The method according to claim 28 , wherein the topical delivery vehicle is a lotion delivery vehicle.
32 . The method according to claim 28 , wherein antimicrobial agent is an antibacterial agent.
33 . The method according to claim 28 , wherein the antimicrobial agent is an antifungal agent.
34 . The method according to claim 28 , wherein the subject is a mammal.
35 . The method according to claim 34 , wherein the mammal is a human.
36 . A method of treating skin of a subject, the method comprising:
applying to a skin location of a subject a topical composition comprising: uniform, rigid, spherical nanoporous calcium phosphate particles; a cationic active; an antimicrobial agent; and a topical delivery vehicle; to treat skin of the subject.
37 . The method according to claim 36 , wherein the topical delivery vehicle is a lotion delivery vehicle.
38 . The method according to claim 36 , wherein antimicrobial agent is an antibacterial agent.Cited by (0)
