Multi-color urethane golf ball

Abstract

A golf ball that includes at least one core, and a cover layer formed from a cast polyurethane or polyurea, wherein the cover layer defines a first surface area portion of a uniform first color and a second surface area portion of a uniform second color, and a seam between the first surface area portion and the second surface area portion, wherein the first color is different than the second color.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A golf ball comprising:
 at least one core;   and a cover layer formed from a cast polyurethane or polyurea, wherein the cover layer defines a first surface area portion of a uniform first color and a second surface area portion of a uniform second color, and a seam between the first surface area portion and the second surface area portion, wherein the first color is different than the second color.   
     
     
         2 . The golf ball of  claim 1 , wherein the first color is white and the second color is non-white. 
     
     
         3 . The golf ball of  claim 1 , wherein the first color is non-white and the second color is non-white. 
     
     
         4 . The golf ball of  claim 1 , wherein the total surface area of the first surface area portion is equal to the total surface area of the second surface area portion. 
     
     
         5 . The golf ball of  claim 1 , further comprising at least one image, pole stamp, or pole marking located on the seam. 
     
     
         6 . The golf ball of  claim 1 , wherein the first surface area portion is in the shape of a hemisphere and the second surface area portion is in the shape of a hemisphere. 
     
     
         7 . The golf ball of  claim 1 , wherein the first surface area portion and the second surface area portion together constitute the entire surface area of the golf ball, except for any surface area occupied by an image, pole stamp, or pole marking. 
     
     
         8 . The golf ball of  claim 1 , further comprising at least one circumferential stripe of a uniform third color located on the seam, wherein the third color is different than the first color and the second color. 
     
     
         9 . The golf ball of  claim 8 , wherein the first surface area portion is dome or frusto-spherical-shaped and the second surface area portion is dome or frusto-spherical-shaped. 
     
     
         10 . The golf ball of  claim 8 , wherein the first surface area portion, the second surface area portion, and the at least one circumferential stripe together constitute the entire surface area of the golf ball, except for any surface area occupied by an image, pole stamp, or pole marking. 
     
     
         11 . A golf ball comprising:
 at least one core;   and a cover layer formed from a cast polyurethane or polyurea, wherein the cover layer defines a first surface area portion of a uniform first color and a second surface area portion of a uniform second color, and at least one circumferential stripe of a uniform third color located between the first surface area portion and the second surface area portion, (i) wherein the first color, the second color, and third color are all different from each other; or (ii) wherein the first color and the second color are the same but the third color is different from the first color and the second color, or (iii) wherein the first color and the second color are the same and the cover layer further comprises at least two additional circumferential stripes of a uniform color located between the first surface area portion and the second surface area portion.   
     
     
         12 . The golf ball of  claim 11 , wherein the first surface area portion is dome or frusto-spherical-shaped and the second surface area portion is dome or frusto-spherical-shaped. 
     
     
         13 . The golf ball of  claim 11 , wherein the cover layer comprises the at least two additional circumferential stripes, and the two additional circumferential stripes are white. 
     
     
         14 . The golf ball of  claim 11 , wherein the at least one circumferential stripe of a uniform third color is located between the two additional circumferential stripes, and the third color is different from the colors of the two additional circumferential stripes. 
     
     
         15 . The golf ball of  claim 1 , wherein the cast polyurethane is made by reacting together at least one polyurethane prepolymer, at least one diol or polyol, at least one diamine chain extender, and at least one color additive.
