Absorbent Article Having A Graphic Visible Through Body Contacting Surface

Abstract

An absorbent article having a body contacting surface a garment contacting surface; and an absorbent core disposed therebetween is disclosed. The garment contacting surface has a garment contacting layer with a plurality of graphic elements. A circumferential edge of the article truncates a portion of the plurality of graphic elements.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . An absorbent article, having a longitudinal axis and a transverse axis generally parallel to the longitudinal axis, and a circumferential edge, the absorbent article further comprising:
 a body contacting surface comprising a body contacting layer;   a garment contacting surface comprising a garment contacting layer, wherein the garment contacting layer comprises a plurality of graphic elements, wherein at least a portion of the plurality of graphic elements are truncated at the circumferential edge; and   an absorbent core disposed between the body contacting surface and the garment contacting surface, the absorbent core comprising a pair of core longitudinal side edges.   
     
     
         2 . The absorbent article of  claim 1 , wherein the plurality of graphic elements is visible through the body contacting surface outboard of the absorbent core longitudinal side edges. 
     
     
         3 . The absorbent article of  claim 1 , wherein the body contacting layer is hydrophilic. 
     
     
         4 . The absorbent article of  claim 1 , wherein the body contacting layer comprises an apertured film. 
     
     
         5 . The absorbent article of  claim 1 , wherein the body contacting layer comprises a nonwoven. 
     
     
         6 . The absorbent article of  claim 5 , wherein the nonwoven body contacting layer comprises a carded nonwoven material. 
     
     
         7 . The absorbent article of  claim 1 , wherein the body contacting layer comprises a first layer and a second layer. 
     
     
         8 . The absorbent article of  claim 7 , wherein the first layer comprises a film layer and the second layer comprises a nonwoven. 
     
     
         9 . The absorbent article of  claim 8 , wherein the nonwoven material comprises a spunbond material or a carded material. 
     
     
         10 . The absorbent article of  claim 7 , wherein the first and second layers comprise a nonwoven material. 
     
     
         11 . The absorbent article of  claim 10 , wherein at least one of the first layer or second layer comprises a spunbond nonwoven, a carded nonwoven, or a hydroentangled nonwoven. 
     
     
         12 . The absorbent article of  claim 1 , wherein the circumferential edge comprises a pair of longitudinal side edges, and wherein the absorbent article further comprises a pair of side flaps extending transversely outward of the pair of longitudinal side edges.
