Method and apparatus for managing storage space on storage device in an electronic apparatus by using context data and user profile data

Abstract

A method and apparatus for reserving a usable storage space on a storage device is provided. The method includes collecting context data representing an environment surrounding the storage device; selecting at least one file from among files stored in the storage device by using at least one of the context data and user profile data; and processing the selected file and reserving a usable storage space on the storage device. The method reserves the usable storage space by using the context data or user profile data, thereby allowing efficient reserving of usable storage space without a user's manual intervention and preventing waste of unnecessary resources.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A method in an electronic device, comprising:
 obtaining at least one of context data and user profile data; and   performing an operation on at least one file, wherein the operation is determined among a plurality of operations by using at least one of the context data and the user profile data,   wherein the plurality of operations include at least one of deletion, movement, and compression.   
     
     
         2 . An apparatus comprising:
 at least one processor configured to obtain at least one of context data and user profile data, and to perform an operation on at least one file, wherein the operation is determined among a plurality of operations by using at least one of the context data and the user profile data,   wherein the plurality of operations include at least one of deletion, movement, and compression.   
     
     
         3 . A non-transitory computer readable recording medium having recorded thereon a program for executing the method of  claim 1 .
