Abstract

The present invention is directed to system and process for notification of contagion risk and mitigation of the risk thereof. The system comprises a meteorological history repository having meteorological data and a processor configured with an instruction set. The instruction set includes retrieving meteorological data for a selected region for a selected time window, calculating contagion risk based on the meteorological data and from at least one of a transmission risk or a susceptibility risk, calculating the transmission risk as a function of dew point change and calculating susceptibility risk as a function of relative humidity. The system generates a contagion risk indicator based thereon.Embodiments of the system for mitigating the risk of spread of contagions and include a controller configured to select a lower humidity bound as a function of contagion infectivity and an upper humidity bound as a function of contagion viability or mold/fungus growth rate. The controller receives humidity data for the sealed area and issues control signals to a humidification unit in response to the received humidity data and according to the selected lower humidity bound and the upper humidity bound.

1 . A system for notification of contagion spread risk, the system comprising:
 a meteorological history repository having meteorological data;   a processor configured with an instruction set of:   retrieving meteorological data for a selected region for a selected time window;   calculating said contagion spread risk based on said meteorological data from a transmission risk;   calculating said transmission risk as a function of dew point change; and   generating a contagion risk indicator for said selected region for said selected time window.   
     
     
         2 . The system of  claim 1  wherein said meteorological data is retrieved from a third party meteorological data source. 
     
     
         3 . The system of  claim 1  wherein said susceptibility risk is calculated as a function of relative humidity range. 
     
     
         4 . The system of  claim 1  wherein said processor generates said contagion risk indicator as an alphanumeric, indicia, or color indicator. 
     
     
         5 . The system of  claim 4  further comprising a display. 
     
     
         6 . A method for notification of contagion spread risk, the method comprising:
 providing a processor and meteorological history repository having meteorological data;   said processor retrieving meteorological data for a selected region for a selected time window;   said processor calculating said contagion spread risk based on said meteorological data from a transmission risk;   said processor calculating said transmission risk as a function of dew point change; and   generating a contagion risk indicator for said selected region for said selected time window.   
     
     
         7 . The method of  claim 6  wherein said susceptibility risk is calculated as a function of relative humidity range. 
     
     
         8 . A system for mitigating the spread of contagions in a sealed area, the system comprising:
 a controller having a processor and memory and configured to issue control signals to a humidification unit;   said controller configured to select a lower humidity bound as a function of contagion infectivity;   said controller configured to select an upper humidity bound as a function of contagion viability or mold/fungus growth rate;   said controller receiving humidity data for said sealed area; and   said controller issuing control signals to a humidification unit in response to said received humidity data according to said selected lower humidity bound and said upper humidity bound.   
     
     
         9 . The system of  claim 8  wherein said humidity data is retrieved from a third party meteorological data source. 
     
     
         10 . The system of  claim 8 , further providing a humidity sensor associated with said sealed area and in communication with said controller.

The system of  claim 8 , said controller calculates a projected humidity change from at least one of meteorological forecast data, interior building volume, air inflow/outflow rates, or humidification capacity, wherein said controller issues controls signals to a humidification unit in response to said projected humidity change. 
     
     
         12 . The system of  claim 8 , further comprising a humidification unit. 
     
     
         13 . A method for mitigating the spread of contagions in a sealed area, the method comprising:
 providing a controller having a processor and memory and configured to issue control signals to a humidification unit;   said controller selecting a lower humidity bound as a function of contagion infectivity;   said controller selecting an upper humidity bound as a function of contagion viability or mold/fungus growth rate;   said controller receiving humidity data for said sealed area; and   said controller issuing control signals to a humidification unit in response to said received humidity data according to said selected lower humidity bound and said upper humidity bound.   
     
     
         14 . The method of  claim 13 , further providing a humidity sensor associated with said sealed area and in communication with said controller. 
     
     
         15 . The method of  claim 13 , said controller calculates a projected humidity change from at least one of meteorological forecast data, interior building volume, air inflow/outflow rates, or humidification capacity, wherein said controller issues controls signals to a humidification unit in response to said projected humidity change. 
     
     
         16 . A system for notification of contagion risk, the system comprising:
 a meteorological history repository having meteorological data;   a processor configured with an instruction set of:   retrieving meteorological data for a selected region for a selected time window;   calculating contagion risk based on said meteorological data from susceptibility risk;   calculating said susceptibility risk as a function of relative humidity; and   generating a contagion risk indicator for said selected region for said selected time window.   
     
     
         17 . The system of  claim 16  wherein said meteorological history is retrieved from a third party meteorological data source. 
     
     
         18 . The system of  claim 16  wherein said susceptibility risk is calculated as a function of relative humidity range.
